I have for my Nikon D60 two lens. 18mm-55mm and 55mm-200mm. But I figured out that I need little more zoom. So 300mm will be better. I recommend you that you buy lens till 300mm. I see some Nikor lens 55mm-300mm for not so much, I think its about 400-500€.

with regards to telephoto lens that you want for your nikon camera, here's my 20cents idea *lol*.
1) budget. how much are you willing to pay for your new telephoto lens? this is really the determining factor since there's a lot of telephoto lenses and to tell you the truth, they are all expensive.
2) where do you plan to use it? this is also important because you really have to decide if you will be using it in areas where lightings will not be perfect or just plain daylight? the widest aperture of the lens will be a big issue with regards to light matters.
3) are you planning to upgrade lens or camera body in the next future? i'm asking this because if you want to buy a telephoto lens, you might want to consider how long will you be using it. in my case, i know that i will be using my telephoto lens for life so i decided to get a better glass that would be competent for lightings and also quality of the output. i did not buy the 70-200mm nikkor since it is very expensive.
here's what i did. i bought a sigma 70-200mm hsmII lens. i didn't consider nikkor since it would cost a fortune :) good range, good aperture since it is f2.8 all the way and will work even in challenging situations for lights.
55-200mm was my first choice but i changed my mind simply because i love bokeh so i decided to go for sigma. one thing that you might want to consider for 55-200mm is the floating aperture. if i'm not mistaken, f3.5-5.6. this would mean that if you are zoomed at 200mm, your minimum aperture would be f5.6 and that is not just good for me. i want to blow backgrounds of my photos.
so think about APERTURE AND BUDGET because those will be the deciding factors of your next telephoto lens. i strongly recommend 70-200mm f2.8 sigma :)
