Travel.......in time....what if....

Let's pretend that a time machine exists and that is available to everyone, everywhere. Where would you go? What would you fix? Regrets? Mistakes? To get the discussion started I will give two examples about me. I choose my own way so I do not really have many serious regrets. First think that I would "fix" is a bad decision to help my brother by getting a big shared loan. It led to my financial disaster, as he made sure to screw me aaaaaaaaaall the way. I lost two appartments (1 big, 1 small), two parking spaces and a store which I got by exchanging my grandfather's house to a construction company. It is something that is common on Greece, you give land and take a percentage of the building. What is not common is getting f.....d by your family. Well, it didn't kill me, it made me stronger and wiser. Tip of the day: Watch out with loans!!!!! Second example. I would FOR SURE go and watch the 2005 Black Sabbath and DIO concerts here in Greece. I should have borrowed money for the ticket. Roll away...

if i had a time machine i wouldn't return to the past, as the past can't be changed. i would go to the future, and see what it looks like, and if there is any thing i can change now, to improve the future.

Good thinking about the future. Same thing applies for the past, you could change something to improve your family's life for instance. How far ahead in time would you go?
10 Jan 12
that's a difficult question. after i posted this comment i thought about how i would actually do it, and then i thought that as the future does not yet exist there is effectively more than one future, and i couldn't go travelling to all potential futures. so i suppose i would have to travel very slowly and find a point where things seem to be taking the wrong direction, and then come back and see what i could change to change it. but then it began to seem too complicated, and i decided the future was better imagined than known.

I agree with your last comment. You could choose apoint in time, just the year. Then take a look around and decide then.

I might go back to parts of my life, to reminisce, but I don't think I'd actually want to change anything. I am who I am, in large part, because of my life experiences, even the bad ones. No regrets; just learn from your mistakes and move on. If I undid even some of the negative experiences, I risk changing things now. I feel like my life turned out pretty good, so why would I need to change anything?

What about the future? Would you take a look?

I don't think so. I like having goals to strive for. Knowing that I meet those goals in the future might lead to me slack off now, because I would feel they've already been achieved. Knowing that I failed to meet those goals would be worse, because then I might lose hope in myself and my goals.

If a time machine existed I would go back to 1994 and stay in Australia. It was a shame that I missed emigrating to Australia. I wish that I hadn't arranged for my ex-husband to go back to his home country. I should have tried harder with my marriage. I wish that I had stayed in the village of Bridge until 2006 then I wouldn't have bought my second house. I might have bought a bigger house at that time. I would go back to 2005 and set that right. I wish I had been on another trip around the world instead of staying around my ex-boyfriend. I would go back to my actual trip around the world from 1993 to 1994, have my 2004 trip to the Seychelles and 2006 trip to Central America again.

My husband was Australian and we got divorced six years later. My boyfriend that I had in 2005 was the same nationality as me. On my world trip in 1993 and 1994 I went to California, Hawaii, Fiji, Australia, Sumatra, Singapore and Malaysia. My trip to Belize, Guatemala and Mexico was my favorite trip ever and I went on that in 2006.

Well, I would go back in time and I would change the fact that I got married. That wound up screwing me royally. And I would not marry the woman that I did. Instead, I would interfere with a relationship my cousin had with this girl that liked me and I would make her my wife and in doing that, I would have changed the course of my life, as well as that girls life. We would have had an awesome life together.

If i had the chance to time travel.. I would travel back to World War 1 - and probably do anything and everything to stop it.. Even if they wont listen to a commoner, I would find extreme measures.. The second time travel that I would do.. Would be back where there were dinosaurs and discover why they got extinct.. Try to do something to protect them and keep them alive... haha, sounds funny.. But I think this two would have really changed the world in the future.. World war 1 because if one war is stopped the rest wont take place.. Like world war 2 .. Bring peace into the world.. That's all I want to do as for now!

Nice thinking! Secure peace. As for the dinosaurs, wouldn't they bite us or eat us?

Hi Kostas and welcome to my lot. I don't think I would change anything what I have done in my life made me a lot stronger person and made me realize not to make the same mistake twice. I never loan or sign for a loan to anyone other then myself especially not family they don't realize or think they have to pay family back. Some people think the world owes them a living just because they are them. I like everyone have regrets and mistakes but they made me a lot better person. So I will stay right here and keep my mistakes and regrets where they are. But it would be fun to see the world as it grew to where it is now.

You didn't say that the machine is only for the past. So I would choose to go to the present. I would like to see a gliimpse of my future. If there is any bad events that might happen I would like to know it so I would try to avoid such thing to happen. Everything that has happen to me at present can never be changed if I go back to my past. So might as well accept it; and just look forwrd for what the future has in store for me. As for your family, I am so sorry to hear about how you were f^cked up by your family. I am sure they're regretting it.

seeing the future might scare you, you know that? And there is no turning back. Thanks for your kind words. Could you go to the future to see how the human race or earth is doing without checking your self?

Hi Kostas, I'm fairly new to mylot and you're the first person I have come across from Greece. I haven't visited your country but would love to do so. Sorry to learn of your family financial fallout and all credit to you for dealing with this in such a positive way. I was only talking to a gentleman on Friday who was telling me of a similiar dispute involving his brother who lived in his house. His brother sued him in the High Court resulting in almost £100,000 in legal fees and costs to settle the matter. Fortunately I have not been swindled by a family member but I have been relieved of a lot of money by a confidence trickster which I am still repaying. Good to hear from you.

You are welcome to come to Greece. Any info you need. just ask. Thanks for your kind words. Courts aren't always the right way to go. Especialy if you there isn't anything to win. Nothing in my case. As for you problem, be strong and patient and you will see the light. Patience is a great gift! In the end all these problems leave a mark inside of us, so be positive and take control of the situation. The mark will be smaller and easier to forget. Time is the worse doctor(from a Greek song). What about you? Where would the time machine take you?

If time machine is real and i was given a chance to travel maybe I would choose to flight back from the past, specifically the era of Adam and Eve, I wanna see how human life exist before it revolutionize, and i want to experience how life was so perfect and spiritual at that time. I will not change anything because I might lost my way back to the present and never get in Mylot again! I will not travel to the future because my path will never be mysterious, exciting and adventurous anymore! I'll just have to follow my own fate and destiny!

I would go back to the time of the dinosaurs because there is no deninite proof on the color that they were. And I think it would be very funny if the T-Rex was pink. =)
