Since upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Professional

Since upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Professional, my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop keeps overheating and switching itself off. Even with Vista, the internal fans never seemed to keep it cool enough, so it is permanently attached to a laptop stand with a USB fan. A friend upgraded it for me, and it stayed cool without the laptop stand for an hour, since then I have installed my internet router software, AVG Free, and my music, pictures and documents folders, which are all pretty hefty. I kept the movies and TV shows on my external hard drive as they took up a lot of space, I'd rather not do this with the other folders though, but will if it will help. I've probably missed some information, sorry, any ideas?

check your laptop specifications first. some softwares and operating systems need higher hardware requirements (like bigger disk space, memory card, processor, etc.). minimum system requirements can be found along your software or operating system installer.

Hi yusfy From the technical specs (http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/dell-inspiron-1525/4507-3121_7-32814939.html?tag=mncol;subnav), I dont find this laptop to be a heavy duty one. It should be fine with Windows XP as Vista has many issues and Windows 7 needs a hell lot of RAM. I would recommend you to increase the RAM to the Maximum - 4GB (if you intend to use Windows 7) and use the laptop for a minimal purpose. You can also try installing UBUNTU (this is a UNIX/LINUX version) and works great with the Specs of the Laptop.

I don't think your laptop can run Windows 7, always check if your laptop/pc can handle Windows 7 before installing it on your computer. A good lesson for next time I say.
