Why do you think it's important to save rather than spend?

I think a lot of the time we think saving is boring. And we are more likely to see what we want quicker if we buy things faster. But if we save money it can really be of help to us if we have an emergency come up. It can't help us if we don't have any. Banks hav interest rates that exceed the original amount of money invested over a period of time. So it's good to save.

I don´t that it is one or the other. I like to save some and spend some. I feel safe if I have a nest for a rainy day. It has proved to be of great help. On the other hand, although I don´t like to spend on just anything, I like to have some luxuries. I love to travel and I do. But to travel I save (that again) all my online earnings. I have been able to go many places with them

My nest egg has been very important to me this year, as I have had to spend a lot of extra money due to a mayor health problem. I am very glad that I did not have to worry about money, on top of everything else.

It is a good thing to be balanced. Then we don't overwhelm ourselves about one of those areas since we are good about both of them. It is definitely good to have a nest for a rainy day. They often come more often than we realize.

Yeah that is a great way to look at it. It is very difficult to save especially when times are hard. And I do like to buy things for myself every now and then. Especially after doing a lot of hard work with work and home I then feel I need to treat myself.

Well, by saving, one will have the money needed when the rainy day comes. Saving is a way of reducing wasting. I would not spend on things which are not absolutely necessary. That's what I am careful about when I go shopping, not to buy things which are not essential.

That is one area that I have a difficult time with. When I finally do get my check I love to buy something for myself. It is very hard for me to resist. I use to be better at resisting the temptation to buy what I don't need. Now I have to start working on it again so I can save more. Having a habit of saving will help me to enjoy it more and will also help me to save for bigger things like vacations. So it's my goal to keep working at it.

Saving IS kind of boring - I'm coming to this realization. I love spending money! I just need to learn to knock it off, as I'm in debt to various places and not getting anywhere with it. . Spending might be boring, but at least it is the responsible and reasonable thing to do!!!

I agree with you completely. I too love to spend any extra money that I have. And I'm in debit as well. But I'm trying my best to work on savings. It is very hard as I love to go out to eat, and go to different places. I'm hoping with continued persistence I will do better. It will help me a lot in the long run.

It's so much more fun to spend! After all, you can't take it with you!

I agree with you. It is so nice to be able to buy the things that we want when we want to. And it is so true that we don't want to be so tight with not spending our money as we definitely can't take it with us. After I save a certain amount I definitely want to use it, for a vacation I'm hoping.

Saving is important to be the richest of the cemetery :)
Kidding... it is important because you never know what life brings to you!
Anyhow I like saving because I like to see my bank account growing in amount. Am I nuts? :)

I agree with you. I to would like to see my bank account grow. That would be so nice to have more savings. It does help a great deal especially when an emergency happens. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

I'm glad that you were raised this way. It does make a huge difference. And I'm glad that your life is well and that you don't have that many problems. It's easier to enjoy life when we have less problems. Yeah it is definitely better to save.

I was always more of a saver. I think that it's a good idea to save in case of emergency, or something to that effect. It's nice to save for a bigger purchase or something to that effect. It's nice to have it saved up for something or other. It's a good feeling, I find.

I agree. It's nice to know that we are prepared for emergencies. As well it's nice to know that if we want to buy something we can without being stressed about taking it from bill money. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm hoping that with time I will continually get better at saving.

Yes, I agree. Having savings is really important, we don't know when we will need money. For example in our health or other emergency stuff. It is good that we have savings. Spending is not bad just don't spend too much. Also give credit to yourself sometimes.

Yeah things can happen suddenly and unexpected. And it is very difficult to deal with those times when we don't have savings. We have to be careful about our spendings. I know that at times I can have a hard time with this. As I love to buy things that I want. My wishlist of things seems to be endless.

Like they say it's always better to be ready for the rainy days. And, life is so uncertain who knows just exactly when we will be needing a little extra money. It does not mean, though, that you save all your money and deprive your self from enjoying your life today. Balance is the key.

I agree. Things go so much smoother if we are prepared for those days. I'm sure we all know what it has felt like not to be prepared. It's also nice that if we see something we would like to get we are able to get without feeling tight for money. I agree that balance is definitely needed.

Saving? This is a fantastic idea but if you have enough money to do it. Unfortunately for the moment it's impossible for me. The bad thing is that I even don't make unreasonable spendings! The money I get are simply not enough. But this year I'm trying to think positive and I hope that soon I'll be able to save.

Sorry to hear that it's not possible for you to do. I understand though. I have learned more things about saving recently. And some of these things I will I would have know perhaps 5-7 years ago. But then it's not like I would have had money then to save either. I have recently learned about high interest savings account. And they are a great thing to do. I have learned that if I were to put 3,000 a year in that savings account for the next 30-40 years I could have $150,000 by the end of that time period. Which would have been better if I could have started saving ten years ago. The interest in that account will just keep adding up. It is great. So much better than people wasting their money trying to win the lottery or other things. This is actually achievable. I hope that things have improved for you.

hi dominique25!!
saving money for me is really important for any emergency cases, for my needs and wants it is easy for me to save. but i never put my savings in the banks for some reasons. if i think that i have lots of savings i usually spend it for my needs and have fun with my companions.
