I hate that most of the drivers in the country don't even know the rules of there craft, drivers here swerve around like drunkards and even cut's you off when they will just pass you by a couple of meters and they know that they are going to stop, not only it is dangerous but it also say a lot about the class of people we have and if the law is being implemented ( adn as much as I love to be a filipino, I hate the sytem that is run here in the country) ( and mostly the attitude of the people who don't care about national growth). SO I just hate it that these people keep getting away of what they do behind the wheel. I can only imagine if all of a sudden USA traffic cops were to work here in the country and put all of there traffic cameras and all those things. I think 70% of our countries drivers today will be banned from driving ever again. Ad that is a low estimate mind you people...

Sounds like familiar to me.In my country too the same happens. I am from Greece and there all the drivers are mad!Completely .And the worst drivers are in my town. They do not stop when they see someone try to pass the street but many of them do exactly the oppossite. Speeding up!Also all the traffic lights are not working and the town is in a mess! Generally Greek drivers are risky, speeding up and park the cars where ever they like. A completely mess!

Hi
Here in India is the similar situation. I mean not all people but still there are many people who used to break rules even they know.. And yes its too bad. Driving on roads is the serious thing and that's why we need to follow all the rules carefully. Hope those people will understand this thing somehow.

Such thing is very common to all countries, it does not only occur in Phil. The thing is people have misconception about driving cars. Some would drive fast and show off their driving skills just to impress their friends or girlfriend. Those who drive safe and steady are seen to be slow driver, dull, not interesting etc. In my opinion, in order to change the way people drive, the perception of society about driving should be changed first besides a strict and well planned law to punish these people. Otherwise, the situation will only get worse.

same situation in indonesia, my country. every year, number of all kind of vehicle increase. and concentrate in big cities. the worst is that government failed to run a system to manage it.
it is not an extraordinary situation if you are stuck in traffic especially rush hours

The very reason for those drivers not following the traffic rules is the Land Transportation Office personnel itself that dictates on the would-be drivers how to get the license easily. No proper and compulsory traffic education is being implemented before one can secure the much needed license. Years ago I applied for one and was asked what do I prefer - 'with test' or 'without test'. If you choose 'without test', then you have to pay a little higher fee and your license will be processed fast.

Based on what I noticed on the road, those were mostly jeepney and truck drivers... they were driving to earn that's why!
What we observed deo is what our government seen also. That's why they were looking for laws and guidelines to help the public drivers to act responsible on the road that will be beneficial to all concerns. I just watched last night's news that those drivers were soon to have their monthly salary and will not be in a commission mode as our government's way to decrease traffic incidents/accidents concerning those freaky drivers *LOL
I just hoped for the best in our country deo! Cheers!

I understand that jeepney drivers and other professional drivers do their best to earn a living. But personally, it's not an excuse to put otehr people's lives at stake. People pay their share of the fare to get to their destination and to have a safe journey in between. If you have a uncontrollable force on the wheel, you'll be wondering if you're riding a one-way trip to hell. The second bad thing is tat drivers actually get mad when some people cite their behavior. They don't seen to realize that people are also afraid for their lives.
Life is hard. Nobody can question that. But doing the job safely can alleviate the hardness and the stress of life. Also, following and implementing the rules is in the same basket. That's the reason the rules are for. Sometimes, it's sad that they are rules but nobody adheres to them. then when's there's an accident, people love to point fingers and not be responsible enough. Perhaps it's the reason why we're still a 3rd world country.

Undisciplined drivers on the road has been an issue in most of the countries. It is not something that can be eliminated completely but surely there are ways to minimize it from wide-spreading.
Personal education, heavy penalty and efficient law enforcement, better traffic arrangement - special passageways for bus and taxis, are just some of the measures can be taken to lessen the seriousness of the problem.
