I read an article a few months ago about a straight man who had a stroke and was gay after the recovery. He says the stroke turned him gay. Personally, I doubt this. I think he might not have admitted to himself that he was gay and the stroke just changed something within him and his personality that allowed him to acknowledge it. This is just my opinion. What is yours?

I go with you. I think the truth is, after he recovered from stroke, he wanted to show his true identity. Maybe he realized that, if he continues to pretend to someone who is not him, then, if he experienced another stroke/any attack, he will blame himself for lying all his life. Everyone of us needs to enjoy our life and by telling the truth to everybody, its just a great relief.

This is so true. The problem is we put so much importance in what other people will think of us.

Having a stroke doesn't turn a person gay! You are born gay! This man was just looking for a way to admit he is gay. He was probaly was not admitting to himself he was gay in the first place! I have heard stories like this before! So after he has a stroke he finally admits it! Maybe having this health scare scared him to finally admit he is gay! You never know!

First of all I must clarify that I have no negative thought about guys who like guys. Coming back to stroke, it is a medical situation where blood couldn't arrive at parts of body especially the brain. As you all would have known, our brain control everything about us besides hormones. So maybe that stroke really caused a particular part of his brain damaged or change his hormonal balance etc? Which leads to him unsure of what he really likes or turned him interested in guys. I think it is possible that the stroke turned him this way, while I don't deny the possibility that he's just using stroke as an excuse.

I suppose when you look at it this way then the possibility could at least exist that the stroke turned him gay. I just have an extremely hard time believing that it did. I really think it is an excuse or he's convinced himself that it's true.
