What's a good HDTV for watching old films?

What should I be shopping for if I'm looking to buy an HDTV and plan on watching a lot of older, often black-and-white films? My attempts at research have left me better informed, but also completely confused.

you get better quality in hd tv as compared to normal tv...even if you watch older films.........

yes.true..even the old dvd collection still spruced up a little to a better looking quality with bluray player..or HDTV native resolution..

if u have an HDTV...to watch blurya re-mastered version of an old movie..its a great experience..since the quality of th emovie is way so high..
i too have a full HD tv...and bought some old movies..like Ben hur..Psycho.Citizen Kane..& dirty harry... they all looks astonishing in high-def.. totally awesome..so dont be left out..u can enjoy your old movies likenever before...
