one evening, i was cooking scrambled eggs and two egg shells fell into the waste bin. a moment after, a neighbor's dog had taken the shells and left them in the most visible area of our backyard and i only watched. next day morning i was accused of not throwing the shells in the waste bin when in fact i did. do you think the one who told me i did not throw the shells at the wastebasket is correct for saying so?

Well I think if you have seen the dog taking it in a place where you have seen it. It is your responsibility to take it back and put it in the proper bin. In the first place once it fell on the floor you could have picked it and put in the trash.

my instinct to follow superstitions kicked in i guess.. you know, not cleaning the backyard at night..

thats why, it was always said that cleaning outside at night is bad luck but inside, i don't think its forbidden. however, the egg shells were deposited outside so i can do nothing about it in observance of the superstition.

Did you tell the person that told you that what happened? You should have taken the time to go out and pick up the shells because you seen it happen though. Don't mean to upset you but after all you seen it happen.

We are all responsible for things in our lives! If everyone don't take responsibility for things in this life where do you think this world would end up? I know how tough life can be I am 57 years old if I didn't take responsibility for things that someones dog done in my yard it wouldn't be taken care of! There are just things that we all have to do even though we don't like it we still have to do it to take responsibility! Yes you should have taken the time to pick up the egg shells to keep peace in your life!

I woke up late in the morning so there wasn't much time for me to hide the evidence. Why should I worry when the dog was the one that disgraced the yard? But yeah, should have loosened every thing up if I took the time to pick the shells the night.

hi there cowboyofhell,
with regard to your query, well, that person who told it to you should choose the proper words to say. i mean, most of the time, we tend to hurt somebody's feelings because of the words that we say straight away. as there are times, being tactless in the words that we throwned out by our lips. either the one who told it to you is correct or no, he/she watched the words that he/she says. thus, we should always consider other's feelings before throwing out the words hence, we will end up being tactless and hurting others.
nevertheless, just ignore that and moved on.

yep.. its not possible i think, for an old lady to be corrected because they are the one who is experienced and is always right even when wrong. not worth fighting over a simple thing though and it isn't a big deal really. all that we needed was know the truth on who really placed the shells at the yard.

Funny, this type of thing happens to me almost all the time. I do the good thing and somehow somewhere I end up doing the bad thing and getting reprimanded for it. In these circumstances, that even I wasn't the one who did it. I get the blame and it takes a lot of patient and self-counsel not to shout back and set them straight.
People even assume that I don't use my brain (which is terribly insulting). However, sometimes, I don't bother correcting them on many times becuase I feel that I will just sound like a broken record and sometimes they don't even bother listening. I feel that sometimes arguing just takes too much energy.
As for your situation, you should correct that person. Doesn't matter if they think you giving an excuse. If you set them straight at least you have defended your side. sometimes people need to be straightened out before they jump to accusations.

not a serious matter really. i simply picked up the shells the next morning and washed my hands. things are ok now. its just fun when animals are around. they keep you relaxed not knowing that one day they will litter the yard and you get the brunt of the false accusation next day. i'll be eating less eggs from now on.

Its my great aunt actually.. she always want the house clean. The problem is the dogs can roam free around our backyard and its tiring to shoo them away. I will next time won't give a second chance for that dog again

You did throw it on the waste bin... but you didn't bother putting them back when the neighbors dog took them. It's the same as littering, i think.

that is the funny part. in my rush to eat and sleep i totally forgot about the shells sitting well on the ground outside the house when those should be in the wastebin. but in the morning, the righteous person turned out to be the bad guy by telling me i did not disposed the shells properly. is littering more grave than accusing falsely?

Things like this happen. Bad things happen to good people, too. Don't dwell too long on this issue though. You did not do it intentionally, it was an honest mistake. LOL, don't worry. That person who accused you will forget it someday and that person will make mistakes in the future too, so watch out for that

I know I hate being wrong and I hate it more when I know I'm wrong and somebody rubs it to my face, but in this situation I think that this accuser naturally presumed you did it, since he really didn't know more. Sometimes you just have to explain things for others to know and understand, and sometimes you just have to stay silent and calm and just move on.

I hate it when I am correct and people saying its mistake. This applied to my everyday life as well, so I am not a good person to be around with in the office. What about you?

Yes you are right, you did throw it inside the bin but what did you do after seeing the dog taking the shells from the bin and leaving it in your backyard makes the difference.

Of course it's not right that you're accused of not throwing the shells in the waste bin, because you did. But, still you could be faulted for not cleaning up after the dog, or at least warding off the dog so he didn't have to make the mess. So, in the end, your neighbor still had the right to get mad. Just saying. Peace, man.

Sometimes it happens to be afraid of society and say some lies to escape from some situations. We can't say them as mistakes they are just some memories. In your situation i think this had happened. But the broken eggs will cause a lot of smell may this cause some sort of incontinent to others.

nope, i dont think the smell would be an issue. if our neighbors houses resemble a circle, the shells were situated in the bulls eye. the dog has some unusual quirks which made me not bother his business.

Well I guess you are all wrong...hehehe...It is your mistake cause you didn't manage to pick those shells and put it in a bin despite of witnessing your dog littering them on your yard, And they are also wrong because they should be responsible enough and voluntarily clean up the mess instead of accusing and blaming you...And your dog is the one responsible for this sanitary problem and waste disposal!
