I believe everyone tells lie. How bad a lie is yet another issue which I'm not concentrating on in this discussion. However, I think no one would like to be lied to. Lies can sometimes hurts a lot if it came from someone you trusted and loved. So maybe we can come out with some idea from our past experience? Have you been lied to? how can you tell when people is telling lies to you?

Sometimes, it can be difficult to tell, when someone is lying. Some people can lie, and it may not be easy to tell whether it's the truth or not. While with others, you can sometimes tell that it is most likely not the truth. I think that sometimes it just really depends.

When you get close enough to someone, you will know if they lie or not.You just know that they have lies to you.Everything on them will told you about it.
For example.
Your best friends, you will whether they lie or not.
The sound, the eyes, their faces, all will tell you about it.

Yeah,I also hate being lied. But I confess that I do lie at times. Hmmm.. I think for me, I can tell that someone's lying if they can't look directly into your eyes and sometimes what they're saying is inconsistent, also that person must be perspiring. There's an instance when a friend of mine lied to me, and even though time passed by and she apologized, still the fact that she betrayed me once will be there so we aer not that close anymore. Lying really breaks the trust of someone, so as much as possible try to avoid doing so.

for some people, it's easy to tell that they're lying. if you know the person for a long time already (such as best friend or very close friends), it's easier since you already know his/her actions. but for some acquaintances, you can tell by their body language.
however, unfortunately, there are also some people who are already used to of telling lies; and it seems very normal to them, that even their actions won't show that they're not telling the truth.

I don't know. My friends from high school tell a lot of lies and I can't even sense whether its true or not when they speak out. I am very regret to have such a friends company till now I maintain a distance relationship in my friendship. How about you?

There is a saying, some people lie if they are talking, but few lie that often. To tell if someone is not telling the truth you need to read their body language, unless the person doesn't know that what they are saying is untrue you should be able to see that they are lying.

I dont think there is a set way to tell when someone is lying because differentpeople lie in different fashion .For some there is a discernable change in some patteren of theirs and for others there isnt .For some its a twitch of the eye ,a nervous flicker ,the way they move thier hand or the way their eyes dart all over the place

Well there are a lot of ways in theory. Avoiding eye contact, thumbing your nose, scratching you're ear a few of the common ones people suggest. Though these are often common things people do lying or not. If it's someone you know well you can usually pick up on their mannerisms even if you can't specifically point them out. If you play poker with a group of friends you start learning their bluffing patterns even if they are subtle.
The down side to this is people are aware of mannerisms regarding lying and avoid doing them or do them to confuse you if they want you to think they're lying when they aren't.
How well someone hides lying depends on the situation as well. Usually the best way to catch a lie is to ask details, then ask for those details again later. Sometimes people honestly forget minor details. I couldn't tell you what shirt I wore the other day. But more often than not if they are lying they'll tell you almost a whole new set of details, also if it involves more than one person they'll often tell you completely different facts.

Hi! Lies don't do us any good. They can protect us but in the long run the truth will always want to revealed and once you know that somebody lied , damage has already been done and trust is broken. I can tell if someone lies base on my experience by looking at their eyes while they are talking to you. You can even sense it especially if you know that person well. They have unusual mannerism that comes out like stuttering, finger fidgeting and etc. In short most people don't feel at ease when they lie especially if you know them well.

it's a complicated question as i imagine.cuz people who are truely telling lies are also complicated.
so i usually check the person who are usually telling lies. i kinda not believe what he tells.
for the one who are not usually doing this kind of thing i can hardly tell whether he is telling or not.

They also can't talk correct anymore. They repeat sentences, they keep lieing about something. When the person is telling more lies, this means that the person is lieing and you can confront him. Also the body language will tell you when someone is lieing, but body language is really hard to see and/or learn.

Hi squallming,
Lie, which is a part and past of our life. In most of time lies were told in order to avoid problems but at the end this lie itself create big a problem. Trust between a relationship start from that point which keep on becoming doubt in their dear ones activity.
It is better to avoid telling lies particularly to dear ones.

HI squallming I think this person from person to person. There are certain people who are experts at lying and can lie so convincingly that it is difficult to find out. But when normal people lie you can sometimes notice these things -
1. Some of them dont maintain eye contact and look down while telling lies.
2. Some people become twitchy and fidgety and seem restless
3. some of them become sweaty and their body language gives them away
Well these are the things I have noticed and I have experienced too.. .. Happy Mylotting
