Security in our new home

My husband and I are moving into our first house at the end of the month. I've met with my landlord on several occasions and the neighbor next door always happens to be outside whenever I go there and at first I didn't think anything of it but I think I better be extra careful because its possible this guy doesn't work and he's always drinking a beer when he is outside. My husband leaves early for work and I'm the one who drops the kids off to daycare and when we leave its still dark out and I also get home with the kids before my husband does...so do you think it would be a good idea to get security in our home mainly for me & the kids' safety or am I overreacting?

It is good that you are being cautious. We take a lot of efforts to build/buy our new home, so we need to cautious about such issues.

You could be over reacting but these days one does have to be cautious, I am very cautious I must admit as I have been robbed twice in my time so I am always watching, I hope you are wrong about your neighbour, there is another way of looking at it, maybe he will be a deterent for negatives around your house, lets hope so.
