I haven't been that observant when it comes to the quality of ice-creams. But what i have noticed is that now, there are lots of delicious flavors and brands of ice-cream.

Thanks for the observation SIMPLYD. It's fortunate of you there to have plenty of ice cream brands to choose from.

Ice-cream like all products loose some of the taste and texture when they become mass produced. There are companies whose Ice creams are superb, they tend to be quite expensive though, but the taste compensates the price, as they are still made in the traditional format. The fact that there are brands that come out with cheaper variations also means quality has to suffer. There is always the option of making ice cream at home, be it with an ice cream machine or various other recipes some are quite easy. Here are some videos I found with a quick search they look good: http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2007/07/making-ice-crea-1/ http://thestonesoup.com/blog/2010/12/2-simple-secrets-to-making-luscious-ice-cream-without-a-machine-5-ingredients/ and http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Ice-Cream gives various forms and a video at the end to make bag ice cream.

Thanks leeloo for giving an honest-to-goodness appraisal of the ice cream industry. Really the trend is seemingly not good. What concerned people do is to sacrifice the quality of their ice cream just like other products for profit. What I would like to point out here is that quality of products must be maintained and improved. And to compensate for the skyrocketing of prime commodities is for them to increase the cost of their products, not the quality. Thanks for providing the links to ice cream.

Hi nicanorr! What do you mean by poor quality?... by the taste or by the health benefits it offers? Many ice cream manufacturers are coming up with many variands to choose from with of course taste to be delighted. We should pay more if we want an ice cream yogurt which is surely best to eat than just ice cream because it offers good health benefits. I sometimes prefer BTIC (Better than Ice Cream) but I didn't find any of this brand in a supermarket when I crave for this months and months ago. I just don't know if it's no longer in the market. Well, if that's the case, maybe consumer didn't find buying this product practical in their budget or not good in their taste. Hubby and kids were an ice cream lover (I'm not)... they don't like the yugurt!

Hi, Lhenni! A popular brand of ice cream from Manila was once upon a time available here in our locality but it's nowhere to be found now. What took their place are local ones. By quality I mean ice cream should be both delightful in taste in health benefits. My general observation is that ice cream of today are lacking in many things compared to those of bygone days. My household members like ice cream very much no matter the quality.

I know that. We use so many things (not only Ice-cream). But we don't know when they did that product. They put preservative (chemicals)on that.

Indeed I'm with you that goods nowadays are seemingly having poor quality than those of yesteryears. It seems home-made ice-cream or other food are more preferable tham commercial ones.

Ice Cream 10-20 years ago was a big thing. We as kids used to enjoy ice cream alot, there were brands like Kwality, Dollops and Gokool which was available for normal prices. Today, we have wide range of ice cream flavors but, the prices too have gone up. Today, everything comes to your place on a phone call, but, i think the life before 10-15 years was more joyous going out with your friends to buy ice-cream and other stuff.

Very keen observation, you've got rajasb. I think you'll not disagree that today's decline in the quality of icecream has something to do with economy. Speaking of the quality of ice cream, when it's poor and costly, it's a clear indication that the country's economic condition isn't okay.

You said it. Few years ago the ice-cream even with low price can let us eat without any sense of worry. We do not need to consider whether the water to make the ice-cream has been polluted or the cream has so much additive. Not only the ice-cream is so, but we are facing with so many "dangerous" food. Milk and milk powder, steaming bread, dumplings are of bad qulity, even eggs can be fake. That is really terrible thing. What on earth can we eat safely? The relative authority really should do something at once!

I can't help it asking you first. Are you really a Chinese? I'm surprised to see you write good English. Congrats! Your observation about the making of ice cream and other eatables is indeed commendable. I do agree with you that it's now high time for authorities to wake up and do something for the betterment of society, especially on food.
