My sleeping disorders . . .

I used to be really proud of my sleeping, as I could sleep very well. But now, when I go to sleep, this happens: I put a timer to my T.V. for 30 minutes and try to go to sleep. When the T.V. shuts off, I try to sleep for some 5-10 minutes but fail. I put the T.V. and the timer on again. Again the same thing happens. It goes on for 5-6 times when I finally can sleep. I try to go to sleep since 12 A.M. and finally go to sleep at about 3 A.M. in the morning. Can it be developing insomnia or just due to stress? I've heard insomnia is suffered by some who can't sleep from the start, but as I said, I could sleep really well before.

Hello boyuancy, I think you need to take the TV out of your bedroom. Strictly no TV two hours before your bedtime, I read somewhere that watching TV before bedtime acts as a stimulant and prevents you from relaxing to a level where you feel sleepy naturally. Try not to watch TV, instead read something light and funny and see if it works. Also, eating the right diet helps too.

I guess you are right. Also, I watch action or sports right before bedtime, which pumps me up and keeps me awake. Thanks for the suggestion.

Take a bath before you to bed to sleep then read some paperbacks. I used to have insomnia before when i was in college, doctor told me to not rush into sleep because that will just give me headache. He told me to always read when i am in bed preparing to sleep. Reading is the fastest way to make us fall asleep when milk or taking a bath is not working anymore.

I was advised to drink milk by an instructor as well, while I didn't. Reading my books always makes me sleepy, but it'd make me feel crappy as well. I rather stay awake then read!!!

these things happen for me too. you cannot sleep when you have too much to think. try calm your brain by meditation or listening to soothing music, you will definitely overcome your disorder. cheers, sleep well. :)

I tried doing that too, but my mind would get extremely loud by the night. It would dig up all the bad memories. I just hate it. Hope I don't develop insomnia!

You need to eat well..and in time to get sleep in time. Dont skip breakfast, have sumptious lunch, and remain active, physically or mentally, sleep would automatically chase you.

That's what my dad says, to get some exercise. I don't skip neither the breakfast, nor the lunch. I think it may be because I sleep too much in the noon.

I was there in your last discussion so I was thinking it might be both. SOmetimes it can also be like that because your body clock has already changed. You used to sleep late so this might be the reason. We both suffer the same. Even if I try to sleep early I would just lie there with eyes shut but mind's still awake.

Okay, so I just need to put my body clock in order? I will stop taking my afternoon naps then.

Dear Boyuancy... Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia. I wish you did not take any tea or coffee after 7 pm. Those 2 drinks can make your eyes open all night. Maybe you should try to drink Hot Chocolate Milk at about 8pm or 9pm. The Milk can help your body to be relaxed and you can sleep easily. Or maybe you have lots of thing in your mind? It can make you awaken too all night long. Some sickness can make you hard to sleep as well. If the Hot Choco Milk could not help, maybe you can visit a doctor. Wish you can sleep well again today...

The coco milk gives me a sugar rush and makes it harder to sleep, thanksfor the reply. Also, I don't do any caffeine after 6.
