Do you remember back on Star Treck there was a race called the Borg? They went around in their giant cubes abducting & conquering every race & people they came across only to add them to the collective. All through the show every other society rose up to defend themselves whenever the Borg appeared to force their idea of perfection on everyone. Did anyone ever root for these guys? So why then is it some religions feel they should act like that? I see it day after day on various forums were someone is trying to shove their beliefs down someone elses throats with threats of "Your going to hell if you don't come to our church...". Then they act suprised when their intended victim fights back. So, How many Borg do you know? Are you one of them or are you part of the resistance? Would you be shocked if a photon torpedo was aimed your way?

I've met many of these "Borg" and they are indeed relentless. It is because they are convinced that the more souls they win, the better their chances of escaping their idea of a horrific hell that no loving Father would subject His children to. It says right there in the New Testament that Jesus told the people to spread His gospel but if a man would not listen, leave him and move on. But no, these people have to harass others. I have found that the most rabid of them are self-righteous, proud and arrogant in their faith--exactly the things that Jesus abhorred and discouraged. I am a devout Christian but I do avoid such people. They have a type of sickness, an obsession that is disguised as love but is actually a fear-filled hatred of their fellow man. Faith is best spread through example. Just avoid such people and know that most Christians are not like that.

Unfortunantly they're the loudest examples of the faith. It paints a bad picture of a religion when these type people get in the forefront & make royal a$$es of themselves. They also don't let you avoid them. If they find out your avoiding them they become stalkers.

I accept beliefs of others as long as they accept mines. I avoid Borgs in forums, but I think I can pretend to a Borg proof certification : I always try to convert to my beliefs the Borgs knocking at my door.

I have to say I am definitely part of the resistance, both figuratively and literally. I've never been one to try and force my beliefs on another person. And don't take too kindly to someone trying to force theirs on me! A person comes to their beliefs on their own through their own experiences, so why even waste breath? On the literal side, I would kill myself if I ever got assimilated...Hearing the thoughts of every other drone in the collective...non-stop? "SHUTUP!!!!!!!" lol. Brings new meaning to the words "Can't hear myself think" And what's up with the all sleep at the same time? My sleep pattern's weird who says that I'mma be sleepy when the queen says its bedtime? On top of it it'll only take about two wake up calls before I'm tryna find a way to jump off the cube, I love sleeping in! Assimilating me into the Borg would be exactly like trying to make slaves out of the Native Americans....won't happen lol.

Hello there, If truth be told I was first of all thinking of the world wars and how the comunists wanted to conquer and assimilate all of Europe (and if you think about it so did the Roman Empire at some point). But yes, nowadays there are many religious fanatics that try to assimilate as many followers as possible (like Seth in Stargate maybe ?)
