I love simple recipes that I can adapt, don't you?
Recently, I found an Oat Biscuit recipe that I could use my Quaker Rolled Oats in, my last bit of Golden Syrup..plus other things.
It took 10 minutes to prepare and about 17 minutes for these 12 biscuits to bake and less than 5 minutes to eat two of them just now..and they're YUMMY!
In future (because this is a basic recipe) I can substitute the Golden Syrup for clear honey as I've got loads of that. I can also add things like sultanas or coconut to the mixture.
Whatever I use I'm going to have fun with them and oats are good for you..right?

I had to use clear honey for the oaty-ginger versions but they were very good too. The coconut ones? Well, that's another story as I put FAR too much coconut in!

Oats can be used for so many nice recipes! I love to make cookies and biscuest and many times I change some ingredients so they have a new taste. I always keep some around when grandchildren come (or when they say they will, as now they as more busy). Nuts and raisins are a good addition.

I have some sultanas..close enough lol. I've got a load of ground and flaked almonds plus nearly a full jar of raspberry jam, but, what to do with them? I've used ground almonds in a biscuit recipe before but I want something that combines both the almonds AND the jam..like a jammy flapjack.
My brain is working overtime now!

How about placing the uncooked cookies on the waxed paper and after that make a hole with your findertip in the center of each one. It can be done. THEN you fill that little hole with the jam.

Five seconds would be nearer to the mark! I remember those Quaker Oats packets with the recipes on the back. I get the cheapo Tesco or ASDA own brand though now that I have to watch every penny.

Yes, I should imagine Morrison's have their own and I REALLY should pick them over the Quaker versions (and I don't even eat porridge) lol.
I nearly put 5 seconds actually but I didn't want people to think I was a gluttonous cow.
Haha!

Well, we've eaten all the basic Oat Biscuits now..and we're onto the ginger ones (where I've had to use clear honey instead of golden syrup that I've ran out of) and they're also very good. I also like the fact they're not perfectly round..quite rustic looking!

Hi Janey1966,
Oh they sound yum! Just the treat for a mid-afternoon snack with a cuppa coffee!....or a naughty breakfast LOL! Oats would not be the unhealthiest of things to incorporate into a recipe and are better than flour and sugar I'd imagine. I've made flapjacks out of porridge oats before and topped them with melted chocolate. They were divine!

Hello! I suppose the oat biscuits WOULD be a lot healthier if there wasn't sugar and self-raising flour in there as well...oh, and not forgetting the butter and the golden syrup. Not huge amounts though so I feel a bit better confessing.
Haha!
