Does your office give you such? It is the time of the year where they give us allowance for that. Ours is P6,000.00 or around 136 dollars.. we can buy office clothes with that..office clothes meaning no jeans, just slacks..and dark in color, comfy shoes - no rubber shoes and slippers..no sleeved less shirts... and i want to go and shop now lol i mean its for my own use and good clothes makes a good hair day

It is so magnanimous of your company to provide a clothing allowance of that big an amount. I remember my working days, when I had to haggle with the dressmaker and tailor making our uniforms on who can provide the best uniform at the least cost. We have this standard style of uniform in the office and we got so tired of wearing it everyday for the past few years. When we decided to make a change, whatever excess came out of the proposed clothing budget was borne by the employees. It was deducted from our salaries. You're lucky you got a job in a good company who cares for the well being of their employees.

Yes the company is indeed generous with the employees.. and it was never deducted from our salary. I am so glad we do not have those standard uniforms because i also get fed up using the same uniform again and again.

The last time I had uniform allowance was when I worked for the government, and I can only buy one decent set of "barong" and slacks, no pair of shoes :( Although I had the option of choosing long-sleeved shirt and tie as a uniform, I preferred the barong. It made me feel a little patriotic :) But you're right though about good clothes making a person feel good. I feel that way, too.

Hmm thats nice. I used to get allowance when I was in National Cadet Corps. They were merely Rs 80-100 a month. Hope I get one too when I join some office..

Is your office a government one? I suppose, because private ones will not give allowances like that. I envy you jazel, because you get to buy your choice of nice office blouses , blazers , skirts or pants. But i suppose you are to submit a receipt for that amount? As for us in the office, we are given uniforms. The payment will be based on your length of service. For those 2 years and above it is free. But for those below that, it is prorated, which means 60% shouldered by the company and 40% will be shouldered by the employee, thru salary deduction for 2 months.

Hi SimplyD, nope i work in a private company.. and we get to choose outfits we like as long as it is suitable for the office..and yes we do submit receipts with the exact amount of 6k but still the clothes is ours. 2 years ago the office did issue office uniforms...exactly the same for the ladies and it was shouldered by the whole office..but it didn't last lol after sometime people have excuses of not wearing the uniform..they just got fed up of wearing the same thing over and over again

Yes, that's the problem with having a uniform, you get fed up of wearing it everyday of your office life. But what's nice is that you don't have to fret in choosing the clothes to wear to the office every morning. Because the new uniform is yet to arrive, we wear appropriate clothes to the office. This morning i had 3 changes as to the blouse and pants before finally liking the white pants with a blue and white top. You are all lucky to have that 6k for your office wear. If i were in your shoes, i would buy blouses and pants and mix & match them for varied looks.

It is nice that you have clothing allowance,so that you can buy new clothes to wear in the office. Here in our company,we used to have clothing allowance of 5000 pesos every year, but now it was already cut-off due to cost cutting.

Where I work they do not have a Dress code as such so they would not have to worry about such a thing as a Clothing allowance, but I have worked in the past for places that did. It is unfortunate that a lot of places that require a certain style of dress or uniform have had to cut this out due to Budget cuts but still require it as it can get expensive.

I have been an architect and we are an informal lot,so we never had any uniform. Therefore no allowance was ever given. We just got our salary and thats all.We could wear anything we liked, shirts, trousars, t-shirts,jeans,canvas or leather shoes etc.Even our bosses came in informal clothes wearing a tie or a suit only when they had an important appointment or a meeting with clients or during a conference.Even the atmosphere in our offices was relaxed and jovial.

I admire architects! I used to want to be an architect way back in high school..for some reasons i didn't end up one. But my best friend is an architect lol..going back to the topic, i believe you guys should not require a uniform because you go on the field and sites that you need to wear something you are comfortable wearing.

I had a similar benefit back when I was still in corporate. Around Php 7,000 per year, to be liquidated at most three months from disbursement (with receipts, of course.) The allowance is a 'requirement' given that we deal with clients (foreign and national) all year round -- we need to 'look' smart. It's a good benefit, I'm not one to complain.

hi, here in my work we dont have any uniform that need to wear everyday, just a casual smart only,no need to wear a corporate attire, and aside from that we dont talk to any client so having a simple attire is such good.and if the admin will ask require a uniform it will not be free and they will never supply it.
