Time for another coffee?

I've been sat here at the computer for quite some time now, supposedly completing a college assignment which is already overdue. So far I've updated my discussions here on myLot, checked Facebook, replied to a few email, and I've just put the kettle on again. As you can tell, I'm trying to put off knuckling down. What's your favoured method of procrastination when you've got something to do you're trying to avoid? I have logged into the college network, but perhaps I'll put off actually starting till after I've drunk my coffee. It would be terrible to spill coffee on the keyboard after all ....

LOL. My methods of procrastination are pretty much the same as yours.

I'm doing well ... I've done up to question 4 since I posted the discussion, and now I'm allowing myself a few minutes here whilst I 'digest' what I've just read LoL

I'm redoing an assignment, and it was bad enough doing it the first time, let alone the second!

That stinks! I completely know how you feel. There've been a couple of times I've worked for weeks on a big research project and I thought it was great, but in the end the teacher told me it was cr@p and I had to change the whole thing. That really stunk!

Well in my case, I go out in my room and breathe deeply for fresh air for a couple of times before drinking my coffee to have my mind unwind. Go back to my room when I feel that I am ready to do working online or if not, I went straight to bed to sleep for an hour. Even I missed mostly my tasks, it is still important that I have relaxed a little bit for some healthy recovery from stress. For me, I can perform well if I am in my good health and if I have bad health all my work will be ruined perfectly.

You need to calm down my friend, the more you cram yourself to work the more you will not focus in your work and it will slow down yourself from working. If you can't sleep thinking about your work, you have to burn your calories by running and do some free weight exercises for at least 30 to 60 minutes in order that to make your mind alert. Healthy mind comes from a healthy body.

I would also be doing the same as you. Going through facebook, respond to emails, apply for a couple jobs, watch a video, etc. I would also have a little snack. Not coffee though. It would be something sweet and a diet coke. Thankfully, I haven't had to do any school work for a long time now.

Facebook is a terrible distraction. Sometimes I think I should put a timer on it and only allow myself access to it at certain times.

My favorite procrastination is coming on the computer and logging in on all my sites. But when I do I forget what else I have to do. I pretty much avoid things that have to be done because the things we have to do are not what we want to do.

the internet is full of distractions when we're trying to avoid something. I can persuade myself that I'm 'researching' when actually I'm just surfing.

I hear you completely. It is like going into another dimension. The internet might very well be the fifth dimension.

Small wonder I have seen something of you here on mylot,You have been studying college courses by yourself. You are as busy as a bee, however you improve your leisure by studying. It is not that you try to put off knuckling down but that you have so many things to do.

You are very kind changjiangzhibin. Although I am indeed busy, I must admit that I do waste much time which could be put to better use.

You must strike a proper balance between work and rest, otherwise you will burn yourself out.

lol my favourite hobby is procrastinating lol! currently i'm meant to be reconcilling invoices, in work.. and i've been stalking through ebay for an hour, loooking up a new coat for myself [that i really don't need] on the topshop website, and have no come onto mylot as well lol! .. but to your point about coffee, i think using the excuse of "oh i'll just make a cup of coffee before i start" is the ultimate way to procrastinate!

I think Facebook and myLot should probably have timer locks attached. I should only be allowed to look during certain times of day ....

Hi there GreenMoo, A great way to soothe your mind is having a cup of coffee. How I wish I can join you on your another cup. Anyway, don't think that you are procrastinate things as you are not started yet your main work. Perhaps, you are just conditioning your mind towards that particular work. Sometimes, we want to work on the particular job but our mind and body does not cooperate. As a result, we ended up incomplete. As our 100% is not totally done. And with what you are facing, just try to condition your mind and body, so if you started your work, you will gonna finish it quickly. After all, all jobs are easily done if we are in the condition to do it. Hence, we can finish the job quickly if our mind and body follow the same direction. Enjoy your day and cheers to your another cup of coffee.

I also procrastinate! That is something I can't deny. I know that the deadline is fast approaching but I still don't do it as early as I can. Instead, what I do first is do other things. These things include internet, watching TV or movies and going out.

I bet there are not many people who can honestly say they never procrastinate.

I go on youtube and look at short videos. I also read manga and watch anime. It's not until the day before the paper's due that I'm acctually forced to sit down and start typing. I work good under pressure and Yes, I agree, procrastinating is fun.

Pressure actually produces my best work too. I guess because it focusses the mind.
