I am back again to this busy mode and I have a lot of things that I need to do. I thought when I go consultancy, I'll find lots of time to read and study. However, work seems to find me.
I wonder how some people can laze around while I cannot. I think I'm workaholic. But I learned from my mentors that successful people did not enjoy sleeping. For me, its the other way around. I get so little sleep and time to relax or do what I love most, which is reading. So whenever I have to lie my back down I enjoy that much wanted sleep.
Just sharing the changes I am going through right now.

hi snowhybiscuis,
When I read your title, I remember my own self. I am a very workaholic person too. I rarely finds time to read which was my favorite hobby ever since I was a kid. Because of that, I just bring books with me whenever I go. For example, when I am inside a bank, I have to wait sometimes for hours to get my money. Whenever that time comes, I just get my book with me and let the time pass by. With that, I do not get upset or bored no matter how much time it takes for me to wait my money. I also do same when I have to meet someone or whenever I will go in a long travel.

Interesting topic, Snowhybiscuis. For me, reading is for two things: to experience the things I cannot through the eyes of the author(s) and learning things am interested in. It is indeed hard to find time to read most times so I tend to try to take along my reading materials wherever I go. I have realized that I seem to have a lot of downtime on the road. On my way to meetings, waiting in the food line and my little coffee breaks all present opportunities to read. I usually get to my meetings like half hour early to avoid traffic and delays and is sometimes looking around for something to past that time in waiting. Same goes for waiting in food lines and any other place that you may find you have waiting downtime. You'd be so surprise to see how much reading you can accomplish by this method alone.
I have learnt that no one is ever too busy but just pretending to be busy because there are always little breaks in between tasks to do the little things that matter.

Hi Lezzdenada.
I do the same too. I always bring in my bag my pocketbook. The difficult part though is reading on a moving vehicle. I know it is a bad habit. But I cannot help it. I get bored just looking out the window. I think it is much productive if I exercise my brain.
Have a great day!

YEs reading is hard nowsday , where people prefer the shortest version of things like twitter and smses.Especially if reading novels and such , i guess it back to basic where your read what interests your maybe start back from magazines, newspaper and internet articles.Read for pleasure and knowledge is good without pressure.Personally i have great ideas while sleeping and dreaming such ideas.

Hello kukueye.
I read a lot when I write articles. And I'm glad learning from it. What I really need to concentrate on is finishing a book at least 1 in a month. And you are correct... I want to read for pleasure and knowledge and not because it is work related. That is what I'm missing. LOL.

Since you own your time, while having your job, you can choose at what time can you allot a time for what you enjoy such as reading. That's what's nice with having your own job, because you can give yourself any time, that you would like to do things on your own.

I know what you mean. I keep trying to truly retire, and while I do less online now, my hours seem to be just as full. I have tried to make time for myself, to do nothing or to read or whatever I want to do, but it seems like "what I want to do" gets all mixed up with "what I need to do."
Good luck in getting some time to relax.

I experiences that too. I am usually cluttered with things that need to be done and most of the time, I sit in front of my laptop finishing articles that took me longer to write because I can't focus. Maybe I have to close my door so I can truly focus on my work.
Anyway, thanks for joining in this discussion peavey. Hope you'll be able to find some time to do things that you really want to do.

Hi Cher913.
I too is a little workaholic and I do a lot of things. I think the problem comes in lack of focus. We wanted to do a lot of thing and fail to concentrate our effort on those that we really, really wanted to accomplish. We understand the importance of learning but little things gets on our way. Those are distractions.
I admit, I have to unlearn moving around constantly. I need to sit down and focus on that reading.
Have a great day!!!

The best way to 'find' the time is to make a 'date' with yourself and your book! I know sounds a little funny, but it works. If you keep a date book, then start by penciling in an hour, whenever that might be, and for that hour, it is YOU time for reading. No work allowed, no phone calls, no texting, let the voice mail take your messages. And if things are busy around your house, go to a coffee shop, bookstore, etc. and do your reading there. You will find that even an hour will make you feel refreshed, and after a few weeks, pencil in another hour in the week, if you can manage it, but same 'rules' apply, no phone, no company, etc. good luck

That sounds good. I really have to put my feet down when it comes to reading. Otherwise, I will continuously feel frustrated. I think I'll take your advise to go to a coffee shop with my book or joypad (for eBooks). The strongest distraction is TV.

Hello jricky1.
Thanks for your good wishes. I really want to do that. I am actually psyching myself to finish the book that I am reading right now. Otherwise, I will not be able to get some learning from it. I usually read self help books. My dilema is I have to strengthen my self discipline and not be easily get sidetracked with things here at home. I am sometimes distracted by my niece. I cannot resist her whenever she pulls me out of my room. Another is the TV. I have this Korea Novela that I follow on TV. But I believe I can set it aside for a few more days. I'll just buy a CD.

I love reading but find it difficult to make time for it. The best I seem to be able to manage is to read a few pages in bed just before I go to sleep. Sometimes I read a little at weekends but my most productive reading time is on holiday.

I was happy during the December holiday. I got to read a lot of materials. But for now, I have to find at least an hour a day to do that reading. Maybe you can get good advises in this discussion here roadrunner77.
