The Dark Tower series is by far my favorite. I have read them twice.
I heard a while back that Stephen King was working with some people to make The Dark Tower into a 3 movie series. This really scares me. He said that he wants it to be his trilogy like The Lord of the Rings. I don't understand how they are going to possibly fit 7 books into only 3 movies. In order to do these books any kind of justice, the movies are going to have be really long. Let's face it, if they are really long, the only people that will be watching these movies will be big fans of Stephen King.
Also, who would they get to play Roland? I don't know of any actors that would be a good part for him. What do you other Stephen King fans think? Is it possible for them to turn a 7 book series into a good trilogy?

There was a plan to make three movies and then continue the story on TV. Ron Howard was to be involved with Javier Bardem possible as Roland. However, last summer Universal films pulled out of the production. They claimed the couldn't come to an agreeement with Howard but more likely they were afraid to risk a big budget.

Yeah, I heard about the tv series thing too. I am happy to hear that they decided not to do it. I think if they were to actually put a lot into it and not leave anything out, then it would have made an awesome movie series. But with all of Stephen King's other movies, I just don't think they would have done it justice.

You misunderstood, I think. Right now they are not doing the TV series OR the movies unless Ron Howard can come up with financing. I think with Ron Howard behind it, both would be great.

wow Ron Howard wou ld be perfect I am sad they could not reach an agreement but I don'tthink that a tv series would fly unless it
really stuck to his novels.

I agree this series will have to be terribly long but if it does I have no doubt that it will have any shortage of viewers, just take a look at Harry Potters whopping number of films. But 3 films will be horrible simply because this series can't be done that way. I presume Stephen King will not take the Dark Tower to film but rather to a tv series as he has done with The Stand and such.

hi ashleymosq yes I read the series and loved it. oh my g if
they made a movie into a series I just have to see it. I am
going to ask my son if he knows any thing about this. I would
love to see it if it comes out.If Stephen king does what he often does in having his books made into a movie he will help in the making of it into a series and he will play a quick walk on
role so always keep an eye out for him. lol like the Lord of the Rings trilogy it willbe long but worth it hopefully.
