Have you experience Tutor.com or Wyzant as a student or tutor? If so, tell me your experience. Also please feel free to tell me about your experiences with other companies as well. Experiences can include application process, finding a tutor, difficulty getting leads, etc.

well i've tried to become a tutor with tutor.com twice.. and they've always rejected me for stupid reasons, so i don't know what's wrong with that, i don't think i'm so dumb i cant tutor someone, i've done it during college and here at work to other developers... but for them apperantly it's not enough because of silly reasons

I applied to be a tutor at Wyzant. I took many tests. If you pass the test, you can tutor it. If you fail it, you can't. A few subjects, they evaluate your tutoring history. You have to have receive at least 80% to pass. I guess most people in my area had never heard of it before because there was a long time between when I applied and anyone looked into it. Parents of some students have written to me, but when they hear the amount, they tend to go with a cheaper tutor. If would be very difficult for me to cut my prices. I live far away from other people, so the cost of gas would be a problem. I would not be making any money. So I can't really come down on my price. Someone closer by probably can.
