I have a small ukay-ukay store in front of the house. The most saleable items are tshirts and shorts. However, most people want good quality at the cheapest price. Since they know that what you are selling are second hand items, they expect it to be sold for cheap and yet they want something that is up to date. When you buy your products, don't buy in bulk since most of the items are in sizes that are too big for Filipinos. I often go around and pick items individually even it amounts to more. Beware of the scams. There are those selling ukay items in bulk for a cheap price however these items are of inferior quality. Never buy ukay products where you are not allowed to check the contents. Good luck in your new endeavor.

If you buy the packed ukay ukay, they may charge you about Php 3,000 for I pack however, you cannot open the package and choose the contents. This pack contains from 150 to 200 pieces of assorted items, pants and jackets will cost more. So I advise you to select items individually, however, the bulk packages are cheaper and can be sold for less. When I bought those packed clothing, some of the sizes were XXXL which I was not able to dispose of until now. Check carefully for the ukay ukay sources especially their reliability and dependability. Don't be fooled by all the sales talk.

Is this a seasonal thing or are you planning on making it your business? If you're setting up a business selling these items, you have to set up shop where there's lots of people. Not many people would go out of their way just to look for a thrift shop. Check also your competitors' items and how they're priced. If you can manage to lower your pricing a little, that would be better. Well, I guess the bottom line is this is a business and you really have to plan it out well before you start :)

hi there my friend, well it really depends on the lifestyle of your place. Do some research on what people say, get to interview some people and some store owner to get a birds eye view on how the market is. Since you said that there are alot of people who are already selling it i think it would be much better to venture into something different. something that really interests and would also catch the interest of people around you. Godbless on your business :)

I agree with what tinker_bel said regarding your plans. It is important to do some thorough research whenever one wants to put up a business. It should be something that you will profit from. For me, I think I would either build my own convenient store or something that does not involve perishable goods like a mini hardware store. It's really up to you. Best of luck!

I always believe clothes are the top seller, befrind. In addition, it should always be women's clothes. Men are not that fond of buying cheap clothes. It's always women who want to wear different kinds of clothes everyday in different occasions or appointments. They are not satisfied if they wear the same dress the following day. They don't care if the clothes are cheap and are not of good quality as long as they are always new to the eyes of their friends. There are also exceptions. In my case, I prefer expensive ones. I have few clothes but they are all of good quality and they'll last for years.

i think basically, ukay ukay are second hand items. what you need to do is check out the stuffs you no longer want but are still very usable. the items will definitely be saleable if they still look as good as it was new. please do not sell items that are really close to being trashed...
accessories are good to be sold as well, apart from those that you have mentioned above. good luck! =)

First you need to consider the place. It has to be somewhere people would notice the shop. Ukay ukay shops normally sells second hand stuff so you can sell almost everything. Usually you can find shoes, bags, clothes, sandals like you mentioned... accessories, hats/caps. and actually even the items you used to display at home and things that still looks good but you don't needed anymore.

If ukay-ukay is what you really wanted though there are lots of stores in your area selling such items, you better find out which styles they like most of using, who will be your everyday buyer (a mother, students, worker, a young one or an old one)and, the selling price. You should have contacts too of wholesalers which could be able to give you a reasonable price.
