I work all night long and I need to rest the moment I get home, But I dont know there is a house near my apartment that keeps a rooster. I dont know were that rooster is but he is an annoying heck of a chicken, I have a very unusual pet too, I have an iguana but My Iguana doesnt make noises that drives people crazy, That damn chicken gave only 4 hours of sleep.

I've never heard of a rooster being kept as a pet in a city either. It's going to annoy so many people especially those who work night shifts and their sleep gets disturbed just as they're about to drift off. I must say the person keeping it can't be very considerate. Have you tried sleeping with ear plugs on? Maybe it'll drown out the sound of the rooster?

this video explains everything:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNLhS--qXVo&feature=fvst Its like the UFC of the chickens, A martial art tournament starring roosters. There is also a dog derby, horse derby, Fighting fish derby,Spider Derby and beetle derby. yes its animal cruelty on its finest.

Roosters - None of these are the rooster in question. Just a picture of some I took at the park.
There's a rooster where I live as well. I don't know where he came from. All I know is he and a buddy of his wondered onto my landlord's land one day, a few years ago. Fortunately, my husband and I use air cleaners to drown out the noise. We may live out in the "country", but there are plenty of different noises that come along with it, including that darn rooster's crowing. It helps tremendously...unless the rooster happens to be directly at one of our windows, that is. Maybe you could use something like that to help drown out the noise. It does take some time to get used to, but once it does it does a great job in helping one sleep. Happy mylotting!

I found out that roosters have hard chewy meat, so I will just turn it into a meatball soup given a chance.

Hi Capt. I gather you live in the Philipines. Are you sure city roosters are allowed? I live in Canada in a subburb of a big city and there is a debate going on whether or not a bylaw should be changed to allow people to keep up to 4 chickens -no rooster though. I know exactly how you feel. When I first moved into my apartment several years ago I was awakened every morning at about 4 a.m. by a crowing rooster. There are houses around with big backyards so I could never find out where the illegal rooster was. It was driving me nuts. Anyway, other people must have complained to the city and a bylaw officer tracked down the rooster. He has not crowed since. I wonder what happened to him????

Yup there are roosters in the city cos Chicken derby is a popular sport. Chicken derby is one of those hobbies that is considered "manly" in my country. Lets say if Spain have Bull Fighting, Philippines have chicken derby.

I can imagine how you feel. I think you could file a complaint to your respective officials or the homeowners association if there is one. Usually residential places here in the city do discourage or prohibits entirely the keeping and or breeding of chicken.

People do tend to keep some strange pets to say the least. And some of then tend to annoy everyone but the owner. A pet rooster does seem to be a curious choice to say the very least. I know that if it would have been me, I would have arranged for said rooster to have a...slight accident to say the very least. That is all that I am rather saying. A loud dog can be a nuisance sometimes. But there are times where it does shut up and does not go on through the night. And often times there is just a sound that you would rather get used to. A rooster on the other hand, it is rather going to be something that I don't think that you could ever get used to. At least I know that I wouldn't.

I purchased a sound proof air conditioner and my rooster problems had been solved. I think my electric bills will rise though. Hope I can afford a solar panel soon so I can use the airconditioner with no worries.I think no one really complains about the rooster cos I am the only night shift person on that street and its a normal thing in my country.

I never heard about a pet rooster before. Anyways, breeding chickens is forbidden in my town, and it is possibly the same in your town. You should make inquiries at your city hall and report it. If roosters are allowed, I see nothing else than to buy hearing protectors for you and your iguana.

I did not thought at this sort of rooster. I wish for you that your neighbors' rooster is not a champ, and will be killed in a fight soon

there are city roosters in the Philippines, they were kept for a cockfight sport or chicken derbies,Many men in my country see it as a Manly sport. Politician sand some businessmen are enthusiast of that sport. I found it boring though, Its more entertaining to see humans kill each other in the ring than chickens. My dad,Brother in law and Uncles were Rooster enthusiast too.

If you have only just moved in then you might get used to the sound and sleep through it. It might not be a rooster - sometimes hens crow, for various reasons, one of ours has had a little spate of crowing recently because we have gotten some new hens and she's just showing her dominance. Thankfully she only does it a little bit when I let them out in the morning and she didn't do it at all this morning so she might stop now. See if you can track down where the noise is coming from and have a word with the owners. Hopefully they are aware of it and trying to do something about it. I don't know what your local laws are like. In theory I could keep a rooster but wouldn't because it would probably annoy me as much as the neighbours. It would come under "nuisance" laws if it was crowing all the time and upsetting people. Also, unless you are breeding the chickens you don't need one - they lay eggs anyway so all the rooster does is eat food and cost money!

Those people who raised rooster in the city uses them for cockfights, its very popular in my country, its something the spaniards taught Filipino ancestors during their colonization of the Philippines. Until now many men have pet roosters for that purpose. I was in this apartment for a year, That rooster nightmare started few days ago and I hate it.

hello, Your funny, calm down. Alright? I know how annoying it was when you are lack of sleep most especially if you are tired and you want some sleep. I think you cant help it but change your apartment because you cant actually kill the rooster. The best decision here is to change your apartment if ever that you cant rid of the noise.

I live in a different city now and I am so happy because it is rooster free. The only noise I deal with is a married couple neighbor who are verbally abusive to each other,

@HanVanMeegerin Noise follows me wherever I go. My first Apartment is near a Born Again Christian Church with full stereo. My 2nd apartment is near a Karaoke bar with people who can't sing to save their lives. Then there is the house near the rooster.

@CaptAlbertWhisker that's good that you are away from roosters now. That's too bad about the couple. It would have been nice to hear happy noises coming from them instead. Cockadoodoodle doo!
