I have read from another forum site asking a good excuse to not attend her prom because she feels it is too expensive! She said she would rather use that money to buy clothes for herself! Whoa! New clothes is better than attending the prom night?! I think she is making a big mistake skipping the prom just because because she want to buy new clothes! Memories of my Prom nights are priceless! What about you guys? What do you think?

it is really not compulsory to attend the prom. but the event will be one of the most memorable in a teenage life. but some also just isn't into socializing and stuff and prefer to spend the money on other things. for me it's worth the money you spend on. it would be the moment that i would always look back when i'm older.

I think it is an individual choice and for some the prom is not a top priority. I never attended a prom, but not from not wanting to. Back in MY day, you were asked to attend or you weren't, but I don't think it was a life shattering thing that I did not go to one. I think buying clothes is a good reason NOT to go, it could be to buy other things that are not needed.

hi there damned_dle,
well, regarding your query, as they say, this event will just occur only once so better to attend to it hence you cannot go back to that time wherein you will enjoy being a junior or a senior. however, if you will really consider this reason, you will end up attending. but, if you will consider the expense, you will end up not attending the event.
with reference to the above, if i will be in that situation, i would rather attend that prom night since it is only once that i shall pass on the way - either i am a junior or a senior. and i cannot go back anymore to that path when i am already reach my old age.

I think that person was an outcast or have some insecurities. Prom night i sthe night to shine. For young girls, it's the time to show off and become beautiful. Most teens think that way and i for once in my life thought that way.
In western countries, girls who don't get asked out by a boy on a prom night tend not to attend it because they're embarrassed to go there on their own. It must have been the case on that person and is just making the cost as an excuse.

I didn't spend much in my prom night here where I live, because we don't have this tradition. For what I see on the movies, prom night in some others countries is something huge for a girl, but not here. So, for me, I definitely would prefer to use the money to buy new clothes. I don't have much memories and for me it was a totally waste of money.

Thankfully, prom night didn't exist when I was at school since I live in the UK and only recently has this horrific nonsense reached us. If there had been a prom, I'd have stayed home, though, or gone out with friends. Why on earth would I pay money to hire/buy a suit, money to get in and money for all the rest, just to celebrate something so minor and see a bunch of people I'd probably rather forget? Horrible "tradition". Right up there with trick-or-treating, in my opinion.

Go! The prom is one event in your life that if you miss it, you can not get it back. I say go and enjoy yourself. If you do not have the money do something that anyone can do to get paid.
Visit http://offerscrate.com and complete some offers and surveys. All you need to be is 13 years old. Before you know it, you have $100 and you can now afford to go the prom.

I'm sure the clothes she buys will be the same amout as going to prime. Prime doesn't have to be expensive. You don't need to go out to dinner you can stay in an eat something really nice. Get a cute dress for a good price. She doesn't have to go with a guy she can go with just friends. Yeah I agree it's a mistake but I that is what she wants to do then she should tell people I don't want to go plain and simple with no excuses. She just not into dance and spending time with friends.

it is worth to pay for a prom night even if its expensive. the experience and memories you will get there are cannot be replaced by new clothes. it only happened twice, junior and senior year so if i would have to go back high school, i wouldn't miss it.

Well honestly, i skipped my prom night too. I guess it just depends on people. Some find that prom night are times where valuable memories can be created, but then to me, i just wanna get out of as fast as possible, n besides, i do agree that the prom tickets are wayyy expensive now. Mine was like 90bucks per ticket? i rather keep that money. And sad to say, yea everyone nowadays are talking about money not memories.

She might be being practical and don't have such interest in activities such as that. Well, I didn't spend for any new clothes before but like her I did not attend my prom night. I just didn't want. Me and my best friend didn't attend it.
