I wanted to join Academia-Research, but to be on a safer side (from wasting time and energy), I googled this name and found a lot of discussions here in myLot. :(
Please let me know if this is really a scam? I am doing nothing right now and therefore I sit back and do some writing. I thought of making money using my skills but academia-research seemed to be the wrong choice.
Should I go ahead and try or give up?

Academia-research is definitely not a scam. They will pay you for your work, and the pay rate is quite fair. However, they can be very picky about the quality and will often levy fines against you for work the customer doesn't like. The administrators range frfun stuffom "somewhat curt" to "outright rude" and I never got along with them. They would sometimes assign me work without my consent, and then fine me for not completing those assignments (such as during times when I was on vacation).
I earned money with them for a while, but I gave it up in favor of other sites such as Mturk.com and Articledocument.com. There was just too much risk involved for me to be willing to put out so much work.
