I was watching the buzz when i got up this morning. Its a show about whats in the news and they was discussing a campaign on facebook for Mattel to create a Bald Barbie for girls having issues with loosing their hair over cancer, etc. I did a search on here and didnt see it mentioned on mylot, so hopefully its not a do over. But isnt this a wonderful idea? I did find a link and next i plan on going to my FB and looking it up. heres what ive found.

I saw this on facebook too and shared it with all of my friends and family. I think it would be a great idea. It definitely could be used as a learning tool for anyone dealing with cancer or for anyone that knows of someone dealing with it.
Since Barbie is such a big part of a girls life now a days, I think it would be great.

and the thing is, cancer is becoming a part of everyones life. i bet there is no one that has not been affected in this world today. when i was a child, you only heard of it now and then. now most everyone has had someone its attacked, either family or friends. its our plague of the century i think.

It is definitely one of the plagues of this century for sure. Cancer is so widespread. I can't believe that they haven't found a cure yet, or have they?
I have lost many family members to Cancer.

I think it is a great idea and something Mattel should do. But there was something saying they will take the consideration, but don't take ideas from outside sources.I really hope they go through with the design and use it to help little girls everywhere. If girls had that they would learn you can be beautiful no matter what.

I first saw this Barbie on a link a friend had shared on facebook. I think it is a fantastic idea, why shouldn't they? After all there is a 'doctor' barbie, and other themed Barbies. I saw a post yesterday, on facebook, I believe it was under Wavy10's page, asking if they did come out with one, would you buy it? My answer, yes, even if it was just to give to a child that needed it.

I have never been into Barbies myself, but I think it is a great idea to show kids that bald can be beautiful. Like the one lady said though, it would be nice if the company would contribute at least part of the earnings from making and selling these dolls toward cancer research. Thanks for sharing this. And I'm glad I didn't wait until I got to this in my emails before responding! Have a great weekend!!!

why not? It would be a good idea. It would also increase awareness and be part of the campaign against cancer. It is also a good reminder to us all that beauty comes in different form--not because someone is bald or unusual, it doesn't mean she isn't beautiful.

It sure sounds a lot better than some of the things that they have had Barbie do or be. I like the thought. It is more realistic. There are dolls that you can get that have various handicaps or differences, and this would fit right in.

thats what i say. if Mattel is such a snot about it, someone else should create a new doll to go with the times like this. a cancer doll would be very popular concidering this plague is upon us for who knows how bad its going to get.

I think this is a great idea and wonder why no company has thought of this before. I put the article on my Facebook wall. I can think of a lot of pink outfits that she would look lovely in too. Making people aware of such things at my end. FB is good for that.

I think it's a great idea. Barbie certainly has a huge influence on little girls and it might make young cancer victims have a higher self esteem if they have a doll that looks like them...at least the hair part. I am not a huge fan of barbie now, but I think it is a great idea to create a special doll for little girls that they can relate to!

I think it´s a great idea. And moms can teach their children to make some hats and scarves for the barbies, not only for vanity´s sake (although that also counts) but because we hairless beauties get our scalps a bit cold in Winter. That would be part of learning what it means. As Debbie said, mattel should donate some of the money of the profits for cancer research.

absolutely. isnt that Deb brilliant? i think if Mattel dont do it someone should jump on it and become even more important then Barbie. i wonder why the gals that started the idea on FB dont just start a company them selves?

We would have to raise some funds to go against Mattel and have a chance.. Still, I think Barbie is a little bit old, so it is high time that she has some illness problems as we do. Chemo is a good way to begin.

I think that it is a wonderful idea and something that really does need to be done because there are a lot of young girls that are going through cancer treatments and something like this would give them more confidence.
When we were children, one of my cousin's had a Wilm's tumor and I remember that for a long time she didn't have any hair. Her parents didn't buy her wigs either and she was so insecure as a child. Little girls that have cancer definitely need to have a positive role model.

Oh yeah!
I think that most children learn from their toys. Why should this be any different? There's a lesson to be learned when a kid gets a bald barbie. Maybe a greater sense of understanding for the people going through the sickness.
And maybe even the drive to find a cure!

and it may help them to see there is beauty in all looks. yes my friend on down in these posts had the best idea. Mattel should put some of the profit toward cancer cure.

I've seen this on the news last night. I found this idea really great for women and young girls going through chemotherapy or suffering from hair loss conditions. Creating a bald barbie will help them boost their confidence despite being bald. Barbie can be a role model for them showing that bald women are still beautiful!

not only that but theres also little girls with mothers , sisters, grandmas, etc. going through it. when i had it first time, there was a lady that had to bring her 9yr old with her to the treatment center. the lady wore a wig and her little girl sat in the waiting area playing with her dolls. she looked so sad.

hi bunnybon I think its a really wonderful idea and if they will donate a lot of their profit to St Judes that will even be better
too. a bald pretty doll will teach little girls that bald is not
ugly and that getting well is the big thing as there are hats, and scarves and pretty wigs that little girls can use to make themselves feel less an odd ball among their peers. Losing ones hair is really upsetting to a female of any age specially to little girls.

I do think it's a good idea, but I wouldn't stop with bald Barbie. Why not have a bald Ken, too? Men get cancer as well, in fact 3 very good male friends are so afflicted. Worldwide there are millions of mothers, sisters, daughters and fathers, brothers, sons battling this horrible disease.
It would be especially great if the profits from the sales of this Barbie/Ken edition went to cancer research. Wouldn't it?

yes, you are brilliant girl. it would be the best thing a toy company ever did. they would go down in history as the best. wonder why they cant see that? if i had a toy company id jump on it. in fact a doll like that might outshine a Barbie image! and take over the popularity.

Hi bunnybon, I have been that bald barbie, so I certainly don't
want one...but I really think its awareness is truth and for a
great cause......
Being bald is not even the issue when you are dealing with the
cancer and the treatment...Because your hair does grow back....
I hope all women get their mammograms on a regular...It does save
lives.....Thank you God for sparing my life and keeping me here.....
