Hi all, sometimes I just wonder what growing up means. Does it mean that you can not do such things that other grown up dont or appreciates coz they think its childish.
I just enjoy watching cartoons. But my friends pulls my leg saying when will you grow up? Your attitudes are childish. Only kids watch such kind of stuff, etc etc. I feel embarrassed as well as annoyed. But I cant say them anything. Because if I do they pull my leg even more. Whenever a friend visits me and if I am watching cartoon at that time I quickly change the channel like I was doing something wrong.
What is your opinion? Doess growing up means you can not enjoy cartoons??

Welcome to Mylot Phoenix! I think its wrong to tag you immature just because you are fond of cartoons. In my humble opinion, growing up means being able to recognize your past mistakes and learning from it and avoiding to make the same mistake again. I dont consider watching cartoons as a mistake. I am 36 and i love Shrek, so whats wrong with that?

Thank you very much for the welcome.
Yeah now that is something I agree about being grown up. Even my self proclaimed grown up friends run their mistakes without taking lesson from it.

I think your never to old to do things like watching cartoons. If everybody chose to shun their childhood memories, the world would be a very boring place. After all, the best people in history were people who never let their childhood imagination be stopped by "grownups". What would have happened if the Wright Brothers listened to the skeptics that said flying was impossible? So to answer your question, growing up means that what you once dreamed of doing as a child, you can now put into action.

I do not think it is an proper way to judge whether a person is childish or not simply by he or she like to watch cartoons or any other mature stuff. I think the best way is to see whether they are responsible for themselves, other people or even the whole environment related to them. To make it easy, it is whether they can assume responsailities.

Actually, i think you haven't really outgrown your fondness for cartoons. Your outlook seems childish because you still love cartoons.
You know that you have grown up, specially in watching TV when your choice of TV programs are those that tackles reality or some informative shows.
That's just my opinion, my friend.

By changing the channel that you love so much because your friends will not approve really show more than anything that you have not grown up .growing up means doing what you like doing and liking it even if others don't approve . It also means taking actions and facing the consequences .
