Anyone else find the campaign ads to be a waste of time?

It's an election year. That means campaign ads all day every day. This candidate says that candidate did this and you should not vote for them. That candidate says this candidate did this and you should not vot for them. An endless parade of candidate badmouthing candidate. Does it actually serve a purpose. Personally those ads don't make me want to vote for either of the candidates. Lets take a moment to look at what an election means. In a democratic system the politicians supposedly work for the people and are chosen by the people. So essentially that makes a campaign one long job interview. I don't know about you but if I were an employer looking to hire someone I wouldn't hire a person who spent the interview telling me why I shouldn't hire anyone else. I'd much rather hear about why I should hire that person and not someone else. So how about this, the candidates actually take that oppurtunity to tell us what they want to do and how they plan to do it after they're elected. It's a novel idea I know. But wouldn't that actually give you, the voter, more of an incentive to vote. A clearer idea of what they actually intend to do in office would be nice. I for one am tired of bad mouthing the opposition and sweet talking the voters. Empty promises aren't going to make a difference.

That is the problem we all think we have a clue but we don't.

Well what would be the best way to go about it? I'd like to actually know what they're going to do that's for the people or the country but instead I'm left feeling like they're in the running with only their interest in mind and not anyone else's.

Sometimes you just have to trust that people are going to do the right thing and look out for the people that need to be looked out for. Believe it or not there is some good people left. I think sometimes we just don't have many good leaders left. There is just to many people to look out for these days. There is just a lot of people who don't play fair.

Yeah I agree with that. Too bad you couldn't get those people into office.

Absolutely agreed! I hate election years just because of this. You can't get away from it if you watch TV, read a newspaper, listen to the radio or go on the internet. I'll be glad when it's all over because it's a bunch of wasted and pointless garbage.

I would say yes because they keep changing there answers depending on the state they are in. I wish they based there answers on what the country needs as a whole. There are 3 main issues… the economy, health and education. They need to bring business back here in the states and not over seas. If we are not healthy then there are no workers to work the jobs. I do believe all people should have access to health care. Education if we are not educating our children then we will not inventions and we will fall furthered behind other countries like Europe and Asia. Why are more international students coming to our colleges and keeping our students further away from there goal or getting in?
Thanks for the write up

Defintely, our economy is in the hole and the government squabbles over petty differences. Doesn't make much sense. Healthcare should be a large concern if you ask me, just from personal experience I feel that if they found a way to make the system better and work for the people to cut costs our economy will improve. I have very little money to spend on anything because of a stack of medical bills. If there are more people out there like me in my situation then how can we expect our economy to improve. Add to that the fact that companies constantly cut hours or lay people off in order to improve their bottom line without realizing that the workers whose finances they are affecting are also contributing to their bottom line. I worked for a retail store for a while and saw it happen there. The company lost sales and in a attepmt to recover some of losses cut everyone's hours and laid a handful of people off from each store. The end result was a bigger decrease in overall sales and more layoffs. Kind of like a dog chasing it's tail if you ask me.
