Does anyone know if there are sites that pay for short fiction?

Yes, there are plenty. Most of them are niche-specific, though. As in they'll buy science fiction but not detective stories, romance but not SF or whatever their particular flavour is.
There aren't many 'creative writing' sites that offer rev share or anything for fiction, though Helium has an extensive category for it and AC (now Yahoo Voices) also has some. The latter is US-only, not sure about Helium these days.

I'm kicking myself right now because I had a link to a blog post called "Five places to sell your fiction". Unfortunately, the post no longer exists on the site and I didn't take a copy! Gah!
