Does it seem like intelligent TV doesn't get made anymore.?

When I had regular cable I didn't notice this as much, but since acquiring Roku I've noticed that a lot of the programs from a couple years ago were much more intellectually stimulating actually made you think about issues that applied to your real life. Why do you think TV programming has declined so much? My housemate says is because advertisers pay for what people want to see and most don't want to think when they turn on the boob tube. It’s sad, but I'm inclined to agree. What say you Mylotters?

T.V. has always gone with what was popular. The good And educational has been there but sometimes hard to find. Thees days reality T.V. is very popular so That's is what we have on All the channels! But there is Still PBS and the History Channel.

Speaking as a senior I must be going senile! I seldom watch TV because of its childish nature. The Simpsons make me sick! But modern movies don't grab me either. There's not been a hit song written in the last 20 years that has stuck in my head! Oh! how I loved the 50's and 60's when the movies were Great and the music was understandably melodious!

I get cable for entertainment and education purposes, but mostly for entertainment. HBO, Star Movies, Fox Movies, Discovery Channel, Nat Geo, Animal Planet, History Channel. That's what I watch mostly out of all the channels that my cable provider give out. But even though I don't watch that much TV anymore just because I have internet, I have noticed a decline in the quality of shows in the past 10 years.
I don't really care much for TV anymore, there may come a time that cable would become obsolete because of the internet. That's just my opinion though. Have a nice day.

we have so many channels our days but i don't spend not even 1 hour in front of the tv.ihave got to the sad conclusion that the more channels we have the less is the quality.the high ratings are made using sexuality and stupid people.i remember when i was a child.there were not so many tv channels but i was enjoying every moment in front of the tv. the negative models are promoted.it is sad.i am often thinking to remove my tv cable.i only keep it for news,discovery and animal planet.
