As i was working my way to answer as many discussions here in mylot,my daughter scream and call me to go out of our room.I heard her say, "Is this a turtle?" So i went out of the room and see what she is talking about..I was so amazed as well as my parents to see a tiny turtle walking lazily inside our living room .. Where did this came from ??It was so tiny like only one and half inch and is so soft. Our house is so far from lakes and there is no water feature nearby.Farm are also far from our place. And we have no neighbor who has a turtle for a pet.Really,we are so confused and all wondering where did this tiny turtle came from.. My daughter and nephew so like the turtle and ask father to put it in a container without a cover. But my mom and father is talking of taking it away because they say, turtle is not good to have as a pet, they say it brings a bad luck.. What do you think guys??Do we keep it or take it away?Is it really true that turtles brings bad luck? And i don't know if you can answer this but ill ask anyway..Where do you think this little visitor came from??

Hey tamris, I think that this turtle is a good friends for you new dog as well for you daughter. I you have it becuase of your daughters prayers for happiness. Hope it will bring the beauties in your life. I do not believe that feeding turtles in home is bad. I had a little turtle with me for a past year before. Later when I fed up with it I gave up to live by itself.

Oh, that's really cute and looks very fragile. Well, i do not believed with such superstitions dear. Why not keep it anyway. But you need to ensure that your daughter or anyone who will touch or hold of that tiny creature will wash their hands properly after holding or touching it. I read somewhere that turtle carried some virus that might harm health if not taken with proper care. Check the net about it...:)

if not taken with proper care I am sure it is fine to touch and keep it if it gets proper care~(^^)

I think it came from the neighbor who owns it. hehe.. Perhaps it lived in your sewage system or something. I don't think it's good to keep it if you can't take care of it. As for turtles bringing bad luck, we had 4 turtles for the last 30years and I don't think they give bad luck, perhaps it's the person in the house that brings either good or bad luck to the home. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Hi laydee, my parents asked our neighbor if they are missing turtle pets but no one said they own one. They are all so amazed as us to see a turtle walking around. As for the sewage system, there are no sewage system here in our province so when it rains it really pours all over the place.. But it is too young to have travel some kilometers if we will think of the nearest lake.Is it possible for a small turtle to travel that far?

Yeah sure, I think it's possible. How could it go there in the first place? hehe.. Anyhow, now it's been three months since you last saw the turtle, what did you do with it? Is it still there with you?

Not sure where your little visitor came from. You just never know. It could have somehow got onto something that someone might have had near the water, and they put their item in there vehicle. When they took the item out of their vehicle it could have dropped off near your home. The door to your home might have been left open long enough for it to get inside. It is always fun to try and think of how something happened. One could weave a really good story out of it. I am not sure what your culture is. But, it seems that your parents believe the turtle will bring bad luck. Maybe ask your parents if it would be ok for the turtle to be outside in a container. I know the children would enjoy the turtle, we use to have one when we were kids.

That is so true that the turtle is not what keeps our lives moving. Sounds like your daughter is already attached to the turtle. Good luck with your decision whether to keep the turtle or not.

I have never heard of a that i know supposedly black cats do but not turtles. If you guys can take care of him why not turtles don't require as much as a dog or cat does.

Hi tamirs, I also don't know if that bring good luck or bad luck. I haven't heard about it. But maybe Chinese people will be able to help you out because they are good with that kind of thing. It's just so cute that you have your little visitor with you. I mean, it's really an unexpected one and as I read your topic, I thought it was one of your friends that you haven't seen in a long while. anyways, if that is really cute...and you are good in taking care of it, then you can keep it.. or maybe, you can return it to the right owners maybe there is. Have a blessed Sunday!

That is really strange since you don't have any lakes or anything nearby. Perhaps the poor little guy was cold and sought the warmth of your home and was able to find a tiny little hole somewhere where he could crawl in to. Since he is so small there might be a mama and other little turtles near by. What are you going to do with him. Are you going to keep him or set him free?

Hi lady,we kept him here. We put him in a clear container and put rocks and sand in it so he can crawl better. We also put a little water so he can stay wet all the time

WEll my son took care of a turtle for so long actually. This turtle was found by him in our garden a day after typhoon Ondoy struck our place. He took this for a pet which I really did not approve. I did not like him to keep that pet not because of bad luck because I don't believe in bad luck or any superstition but I told him not to keep the turtle because it would be too unkind of him to deprive that turtle of its natural habitation. However my son did not follow my advice. He liked the turtle a lot and even bought a beautiful aquarium for it, bought some food and keep it in his room. Later he transferred the turtle in our garden so it could have some fresh air and it stayed there for almost a year. However one day, the turtle managed to escape from its aquarium and it crawled outside the garden. Then one of our pet dogs found it in our garage and what can you expect? Our dog killed it. Poor turtle! It did not manage to escape at all from our angry dog. If only my son followed my advice, this turtle could have been still alive.

I have no idea where your turtle came from. You have already investigated my first thought, that it was an escaped pet. Many people keep small turtles as pets, but I don't know their average life span when in captivity. If you decide to keep the turtle as a pet, make sure that whoever handles the turtle washes himself well with soap and water after handling the turtle.

I have to say that is is very interesting that this little turtle wandered into your home. Now I don't believe for a second that turtles are bad luck. My cousin had one for over 10 years and he was not unlucky nor did he ever experience bad luck. I personally would keep the little guy, it's almost like he came to your home for a reason and if you give him up you might regret it later. I am sure that the family could really get to like having the little guy in the house, they are very fun to feed and are great pets for kids who are just starting out in the pet department. Well I hope you figure out what to do. Good luck and happy mylotting.

Hello tamirs.. I think your slow moving visitor is owned by somebody just living around your place, turtle pets can be grown in aquariums inside houses or if they came from afar they can climb their way through terrains for days that is why we can just wonder how they get into your house :D.. I don't think turtles bring bad luck though. my family had been able to take care of turtle pets, they come and go sometimes with old age sometimes they are gone the next morning just like that.. So finding one or as in your case having one going inside your house is not new to me.. I think you should keep it.. The bad luck thing is so ancient and I do not believe in it.. Is the joy you see on your kids eyes when they look at that tiny little creature something bad? I guess not, I even think it is going to help your kids be introduced into little responsibilities that eventually have good outcomes for sure.. :D

Hello Tamirs, It escaped from someone might be taking it with him/her near your house and it tried to enter your house to get shelter or food. I don't think it brings bad luck as people keep them as pet.You must leave it to the lake/river if you are not keeping it as pet or hand over to the person who is interested in keeping a turtle as pet.

Probably the rain. His mum maybe laid her eggs nearby during some rainy times and he has recently hatched. I think a little turtle like that is very good luck but any pet is a big responsibility. I'm curious though how you get rid of personal waste if you don't have sewerage?

Hi! It sounds amazing that a little turtle entered your house without invitation and without you know about it. It is difficult to understand how the turtle would have reached your house. You should have better asked the turtle. I simply have no idea whether it is good or bad omen to keep a turtle in the house. what did you finally do with the turtle?

It come from the sky!! I don't believe that certain things will bring good and bad luck. It depends on what we did that give effect to the life nothing to do with animals or things. I think you should keep it. It is no wrong to keep the turtle as a pet. If you don't want to keep it then just let he have sightseeing, walk around the house first then let it go and seek for other person who want to take him as their pet~(^^) Since this is the third day of the discussion, may I know what was your decision? To keep it or not to keep??

HI tamirs I think it was from someone in the next town. Maybe the turtle had escaped and it took him months reaching your house So, keep the turtle. I don't think it gives bad luck. I think oldies just made up a story. They saw how sluggish the turtle walks, and they are thinking that if we own one - our life will progress sooo slow too.

I've never heard that turtles bring bad luck, my brother owns one and he has some of the best luck around, kinda. I wouldn't know the first thing to keep them, though, so if I find one in the yard I have them sent back to the ponds that are nearby. No idea where the one you found came from, maybe he was lost. We rescued one in the road a few years ago and tried to again with another one but it was too late...I love turtles, they're cute but I can't touch or hold them.
