Our boss does not work with us teachers, but each time when there are foreign guests coming to the school for a visit, I will be asked to work as his interpreter. I enjoy the simultaneous interpretation although it is stressful to me because I have to get concentrated on what they are saying for an accurate interpretation. It is a good experience to me.

I had an experience of this because during my first job, my table is beside my boss. It was really awkward and I can't do anything non-work related because of her. The negative effect is that I can't relax a bit because all I do and think is work, work, work. But the positive effect on this, I am more productive and effective. When situation like when my boss is not on the mood, what I usually do is to spend less time in the table and more time on the production floor. :)

hi there asliah,
well, i have experienced that situation many many times. as in, my table is just infront of his working table. and with that, at first, tension and pressures really surrounds me. but, as the weeks goes by, it was relieved. well, of course, with the power of prayer, my tension and pressures was all gone. and this set-up lasted for four years. as in his working table is just at the back of my working area.
and with that you have posted, well, indeed it is hard to deal with a hot-tempered person but, i believe if you will really raise that in prayer, every bits of temper will melt away and will gone slowly but surely.

I had previously worked next to my boss and in fact he became one of my students too as he was learning English at the same time doing his job in our academy. He was very strict yes but hot tempered was not in his forte, being a Christian and majored in Theology.
It was fun working with him and i enjoyed it very much. I had a lot of confidence in myself that i was doing my job perfectly according to his specifications thus there was no iota of worry on my mind.

I have worked beside my boss all this while, maybe the company I work and choose is a small one with only one worker or 3 more. I feel the tense though, I don't like it I tolerate my boss behaviour, soon I resign, I found that I actually want to become my own boss so I now do teleinterviewing whereby you can come anytime you like and stay how long I want, I have doing good in this market research company, just that sometimes there is no project I have to do some online work at home. I still suggest you to not work beside your boss if you can't stand it, its a lot of pressure, I confirm with you.

Dear friend, in my previous work experience, I had to work under my boss.
I worked in a paint called "Tixe" and .. Mr. Tixe it was just the boss.
Congratulations and extra money in the paycheck, did not you see, but .. if something went wrong, was there, ready to criticize.
I still have to say that this experience had very little duration.

Hello,
I am not working yet but i experience it during my OJT on the job training. At first it seems really hard to manage when i am working with my boss But thank god he is not that strict and serious. But i am still experiencing tension when he is around and i feel really uncomfOrtable. I hate when someone watching me when i am working because i feel shaking and uncomfortable.

I think I will try to manage and control myself from being nervous while working beside them. I haven't experienced it yet, but with my experience in college, I had able to sit beside our teacher once and it is kind of tense because the teacher is their. Also, the teacher is strict, serious and very moody. I don't speak. I only speak when I need to answer when he is talking with me.

I used to share an office with the Plant Manager of the company I used to work for. We even shared the same desktop. I was actually nervous during the first few days but the employer-employee relationship turned into friendship. He trusted with me some of his personal perceptions of the company and we would often discuss about company policies that are detrimental to the workers. He even discusses some family issues and I started to be close to his own family and he to mine. After my resignation from the company, he offered me a position in his consultancy firm. However, after a few months, we had to close shop because the business was not earning well and the business partner had to transfer to Japan. We have remained friends though and I mean real friends and with no extra marital relationship.

To me it does not at all sounds good because whenever such a situation arised with one of my boss who was exactly as you mentioned strict, serious and hot tempered i use to become extremely nervous. It use to feel like he is watching me and this use to make me uncomfortable...But with other my two bosses i was very easy as they were not of that type...

It is just a matter of controling your feelings. You have to be able to think about what your function in the company is and make decisions, even with him besides you or not. You have to be able to show him that you can do your job well in all situations. But don't become better than him or he will fire you!
