Yesterday me and my Dad witnessed the victory for the 49ers againts the saints that put them in the playoffs 36-32, been a while since they've made it into the playoffs (9 years)My dad said he could see Davis crying for joy. I hope they win this year it would be very nice since its been a long time and they are my dad's favorite team. They don't have any easy games ahead of them do you think they can do it?

The 49ers will be facing the New York Giants next week in the NFC Championship game. it should be a good one! Right now I am still disappointed the Green Bay Packers lost to the Giants because I am a Packer fan! So I won't be making my prediction right now! With the Patriots and Raven game, I'll go with the Patroits!

The Packers had a great season, just wasn't their day today. I'll be honest, I was glad to see them lose. I've never been a Packers fan, but I mainly pull for the underdogs in the playoffs, and I think it's safe to say the Giants were the underdog going into that game. I agree with you in regards to the Giants and Niners game. That is going to be a tough grind it out defensive game I think. With the Ravens and Patriots, I would give the edge to New England, but I would like to see the Ravens win that game.

Packers defense has been a weak spot all season. It came back and bit them. I'm surprised at the outcome though. I honestly thought they would win this one at Lambeau. Kudos to the Giants. Looking forward to next weeks game.
You realize that there is the potential for a Harbaugh Superbowl here. I'm not rooting for it to happen but Ravens vs Niners is possible.

Giants vs Niners should be a good game. Niners defense is tougher than the Packers. For the Giants to win they have to be able to hang onto the ball. Turnovers did in the Saints. Niners have to get more consistency out of their offense. For a very long stretch during the Saints game they had trouble moving the ball. Both teams have to show up with their best game or they're going home. Go Niners!

I'm a greenbay man, but I hold heartely am with you, my point of view is defense you've got to attack the Rodgers, Bradys and don't let them move out of the pocket, like SF did to Rodgers the main thing is can they do it again? I'm betting that they can't do that twice in a row!!

Ok koopharper, you've got a very good point, but their going to play against Eli! when Eli is hot he's hot, but if you attack him he goes to pieces, if you give him time to throw that ball and he's got to be feeling good that day then he will tear you up, So don't give him that chance!! Eli has his ups and down, he's not like Peyton or Rodgers, so were're counting on him going down!!

I'm not terribly concerned whether the Niners defense can do it again. I think they will be tough whoever they face. I'm more concerned about their offense not getting the job done. Their special teams were very special too and they have been all season long. Go Niners.

One word describes the 49ers: Legitimate. They're strictly legitimate, any way you choose to slice it. Their defense is absolutely ridiculous in the way they swarm the ball. They not only attack like piranhas; they swipe and strip and scrape and scrap until the ball comes loose. They're relentless with a pass rush, and even a spread, deep-threat offense like New Orleans cannot exploit the defense; San Fran is solid from its front 7 in the box to its secondary.
The biggest threat for New York or Green Bay (I think it will be Green Bay) next week is that the '9ers can also score the ball. Davis has been grinding it out in San Fran since coming out of Maryland, getting injured badly, and falling into the depths of despair on a team whose solution for every problem was to fire entire coaching staffs and reboot. Alex Smith dealt with a lot of the same.
Now things are beginning to look up for San Francisco. Any time you can put up 20+ with a defense that stifles the run and smothers the pass, you're bound to win games.
I believe that the Packers would beat San Fran in a close one, but should the Giants win today, the 49ers would be at home again and probably tear the Giants to shreds.
So, in short, I think they can do it if they get New York. If they have to go to Green Bay in the cold, though, I'm not sure their defense can dig in and really pressure Rodgers into making mistakes.

I wasn't really into football until recently, somehow I like it a lot more then I did a couple years back. I'm thinking of asking my dad to tell me how the game ticks so I can talk more with you guys.
The '9ers need to keep it together because the only way they could win is for them to play their best.

Hello.Yes that was an awesome game...The thrill at the end, Davis's face, it all was worth watching...I think they can pull it off...I've liked the 49ers as a kid...My grandpa, whose team was the Cowboys loved football...But he watched the 49ers and we both loved Rice and Montana...So yes, I think they can beat the Giants...I hope so...I'll be tuned in...LaShaunta

Montana to Rice for the touchdown. Those were the days. The greatest moment for the Niners still has to be Dwight Clark's touchdown against the Cowboys and then going on to win their first Superbowl. The next great moment had to be drafting Rice. My best friend and I had caught wind of Jerry Rice in his last year at Mississippi Valley State and thought he was something special. When he got drafted by our favorite team that was just incredible. Did we call that one or what? That last second touchdown to Davis ranks right up there. I'm hoping they have what it takes this year and win it all again.

That was an AWESOME game! I was personally wanting to see the 49ers win. Mainly because I don't care for the Saints, but also because I think many people viewed them as the underdog. Vernon Davis had one heck of a game yesterday. I saw a video of him on Youtube saying he was the best tight end in the NFL, and I think he made me a believer in that yesterday. To answer the question, I think they can do it, but it's going to be tough against the Giants. Both teams have great defenses, so in my opinion it's going to come down to which quarterback is able to be the most consistent. I would give the edge right now to the Giants, but a Niners victory wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Agreed! That was an awesome game. Niners were scaring me though when they had trouble moving the ball in the third quarter and early in the fourth. That's my area of concern against the Giants to. If the Niners can move the ball though they definitely have the edge. Looking forward to the game. Should be worth tuning in.

Thanks for starting this discussion big guy. Nobody got hurt when I celebrated the Davis' winning touchdown. Mom didn't appreciate the noise like the rest of the gang though. There have been a lot of lean years for us Niner fans. It's not over yet though. No easy games anymore. NY Giants will be tough. Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots are no pushovers either. We get to cheer together at least once more. If our cheering really matters, let cheer them to a championship.
