I lost.
Someone beat me by 10 credits on Litia. I really wanted that ring.

I'm very disappointed. I really wanted to win it. It was so gorgeous!
Have you ever bid on an item and lost? When do you put in your last bid?

Sorry to hear that. Better luck next time for you then.
Anyways, I don't really bid...I've tried before but because I am just afraid of bidding...I don't do it anymore...and yeah, financially, I am trying to avoid myself on buying things that I only want. I want something to buy something that I really need...just my opinion anyways since I am trying to be practical these days.
I think if I will find something that will interest me, I will really bid on that item whatever it takes...most especially if I really, really like it. ^^
Have a wonderful day!

Exactly. I feel the same way. If I really, really, want it. I'm going for it. And I did, but lost.

I usually assume I'll lose too, but I went all in because I liked the ring and look what happened? Meh. Maybe I should go back to assuming Ill lose! LOL

Wow, 8 seconds? I usually wait until the 10 second mark..I am sorry you didn't win and the first time I lost, my husband blamed me, but he was in a bad mood and thinking he knows how it works and all..It stinks, but hopefully there will be a next time and that you not only win, but pay less for your item..:)

Oh, this is on lista, I was thinking ebay..I joined lista and was told each credit is like a dollar in real life, but I am skeptical because how can this a site afford to give me 150 credits, (or dollars) by adding something to auction off? Plus when I went there, I saw a 8 gig flashdrive going into the hundreds and I know that they are not that expensive..The reason I said this is because I have a rocking horse, brand new worth 149.00, so I tried selling it at a garage sale and craigslist, and have went down as far as 75.00 and I only got one call only for the guy to back out. If I put this on lista, I doubt starting it at 75 would get me anything, especially since it is a pick-up only...

Thanks Stephanie, it was someone I signed up under, perhaps she was new herself and didn't realize that..I am so glad you told me. So 1 credit=$5.00???? Still not much, that makes 150 credits worth $30.00, but better than the $1.00 each..

It's hard to say because I went by the page you can buy credits at and they've been having sales on them. So I'm really not sure what the 'norm' i s.
Let's just say that a $15 gift card usually runs for about 4000/5000 credits. And most rings go for around 1000/2000 and $5 gift cards go for 1000/2000 credits. Guess you can see a trend going...

It went through. Just someone bid higher than me. I didn't have enough credits to bid again.

Yes, I have bid on items and lost. I used to bid on things on Ebay. Look at it this way: For some reason you weren't meant to have the ring. The right one will come along and you will win it.

That's true. I'll think optimistically about it.

Well, I bid all the creidts I had and someone had a higher bid, so waiting wouldn't have helped. Thanks!

I have never been outbid on an item. The reason for that is that I rarely bid . I usually just buy the item outright if it has that option, especially on eBay because sometimes I find that the process of bidding takes too long and that the price keeps getting higher and higher. So, I just either buy it or I don't bid on it. It saves me from heartbreak.

I recently lost a movie ticket by a point, so completely understand the disappointment. Its not easy to try again and sometimes you start second guessing what you could have done differently. We have all been there at least once in our lives. Good luck on future auctions.

Exactly. I'm a bit nervous to bid again, but I'll go for it if it's something I really want! Thanks for the luck!

I have had this happen too. It makes me so mad when it is something that I really want. I think that it is best to wait unti the last few minutes to enter a bid, but if someone has placed a higher minimum bid then you don't win. Maybe you should have bid a little earlier so that you had a nice to up your bid.
Listia is a nice site and I did win a couple of things on there for Christmas.

Well, I bid all the credits I had, so either way, I would have lost if someone had a higher bid than me.

I have on ebay..lost a few that is......I have sat and waited and then at the last minute someone outbids me and I feel like it's rigged.....but of course its not.....you put in your highest bid and if someone bids again and your bid isn't as high well you lost what you were bidding on.....try again another time......

I'll try again in time. Hopefully I win this time! Sometimes I feel it's rigged too. I was shaking and like 'OMG. HERE WE GO!' And then someone beat me. And I was like 'NOOOOO. DARN!'

That is called sniping and I have lost doing it too...LOL. I have waited until about that time too trying to get it but what they did was probably put in the maximum amount they were willing to pay. That could be as much as 10 or 20 dollars more than what they are showing on the screen.
I hope you see something you love just as much and win it!

Thanks!
I don't usually snip. But, I really wanted it and lost a few auctions because people did that at the last second so I thought I'd give it a shot!

I never have bid on anything in my life. I just am not into that. I would get to frustrated if I did that!

Hi Stephanie Ann C: Oh yes, this is very common. I am a fan of Eric Saade, the great Swedish pop artist and I was bidding for a single. I feel really sad because someone pass my offer on the last minute and I write about it in the ES forum. The funny part was that I found that the person that won the item was a friend of mine and I was talking about how angry I was because someone makes me lost.

I have notb tried litia. I do bid on ebay from time to time, but I only buy when it has the buy it now option. One time I did bid on a gift card but I had lost. I was hoping to win a gift card, but since people can bid even if they are not online someone out bid me.

They can bid without being online?! Whoa. That's weird! How does that work?

I'd love to try an auction, but I just don't think I'd win it or loose too much money or too many points like on listia. goodwill and stores like it is the way to go for me.

If I really want something, I'm willing to put all my credits in. Luckily if I lose, I don't lose any credits. That's the good thing about Listia. I'll log in and out and then they're all back.

You have not been lucky this time. I have to be careful in auction rooms, as I tend to buy things I don't need : I can't resist sometimes when things are cheap. Years ago, when I started to bid online, I was following the auctions until the end, and I realized that I bought like this some items more than their real value. Now I just put a maximum bid one or two days before the end, and I don't come back : it is good if I win, and if I lose, it will be for next time.

I used to do the same thing you do. But I really wanted this ring and thought I'd wait until the last minute. Turns out I lost anyway.

Wow. I hate that! It has happened to me too and it just drives me crazy! I keep putting in bids at the end like the last 10 minutes I just keep putting in a higher bid and hope I win. I have lost too though. =(

I rarely win auctions. I've only won three, I believe. They were totally worth it though!
