My teacher has told us that for certain people who belong to the high risk group should take in preventive medicine for the sake of their health even though they do not suffer from the disease, and for example the middle-aged and old should take in small amount of Aspirine daily to prevent cardiovascular disease. But aspirine has side effect in digestion system and other parts of the body. What is your opinion on preventive medicine? Sould people take in them?

We should only take preventive medicines, if our doctor says so because of some previous findings about our illness. But other than that, we should not.
It is said that once you take a medicine for a perceived illness when it's not really there with you, you will suffer some side effect because the efficacy of the medicine is not applied to the should be ailment. So instead, an allergy breaks out. And allergy can really make you sick or can kill you too.
Such happened to my sister a long time ago. So careful guys.

Generally speaking I agree with your teacher. There are people for whom it's better to use medication preventive.
A side effect of asperine is that it makes the blood thinner. They also give it overhere to pregnant women with a high abortion risk (a low dose).
There are plenty of illnesses you better can not wait for to explode, but I do think you have to inform/invest first if it's necessary for you (your own personal case). All medication have side effects and for each of us they are different.

I agree with you. The medicine's side effect is closely related to different people's constitution, and for some people it is lifesaver and maybe for others it is poison. Thank for sharing your opinion!

Does vitamin supplement count? I admit I take Enervon C every once in a while. Sometimes we need them to boost our immune system and to prevent all common types of illness like colds, cough, fever, etc. Honestly if it's another medication I wouldn't take any without consulting my doctor because sometimes preventive medicines cause health complications.

People should take preventive measures and medicine. But this ought to be done only after consulting a physician or a specialist. As you have rightly put aspirin has benefits and certain side effects.Similarly other alternatives could have the same effect. If we tell our doctor all the effects various medicines have they can after deliberation prescribe us a medicine which has best effect with minimum side effects.

Hi xiaohunmeihua, I know that a lot of people claims that they
only survive on preventive medicine...I don't know that much
about it but I do know that for those who believe in it, more
power to them...
If I thought that preventive medicine was best for me I would
surely be on board...But like I said I am not that familiar with
those medicines so I can't speak pro or nay.....

Thank you for sharing your opinion! I agree with your idea that sometimes the will power do help in our health and that is the theory of placebo. Wish you never need to be familiar with these medicines:

It not at all sounds good to me.One should not go for self medication and here your teacher is suggesting Aspirin daily.. no way..
Preventive medicine is not to take a medicine by yourself as your teacher has suggested but it is measures which should be taken so that you dont have to take any medicine..like washing hands everytime you eat or touch public things, washing fruits and vegetable before cooking, eating, immunisation,.It also includes researches in particular people or certain territorial area where some epidemic or some disease has been seen. to detect that and curb that in time so that peoples life is saved...
Preventive medicine is not a literary term as your teacher has taken it to be rather it is implicative..It includes diclining the chances of occurance of any disease, early diagnose nad treatment, reduce its negative impact on individuals or groups health..

unless and until your doctor tells you or you start feeling that you are in the beginning stages of whatever disorder you are at risk for, you shouldn't start any medicine regimine whether prescription or non prescription. There are preventative measures that can be taken, precautions that can be observed to lower the level of risk that you carry for contracting the disease, but you can also do things like maintaining a healthy weight and diet. Eating a diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals that are known to protect against free radicals, toxins, poisons, and cholesterol. It is never too late to start taking better care of your body and reducing risks to your health ut taking medication you don't need? That is not the wisest thing that you could do for your health. If you are on the aspirin heart regimen daily and suddenly a bad tooth flairs up or something you may have to wait in agony while the doctor gives you viatamin K to thicken your blood back up so it will clot in the socket, or if you needed emergency surgery you could have the same issue.
