Chiropractor is a new profession to treat patients with lower back pain which is often caused by injuries in Spine, its joints and related soft tissues. The treatment includes principally spinal manipulation along with therapeutic exercises by the patients. They may even be advised to change their lifestyles and routines for their better healthcare.
These practitioners often have their websites to provide information about their qualifications and experiences. Therefore, searches on the Internet prove useful. In selecting a Chiropractor, the most important thing is his/her experience with the past patients. If somebody with the same problems is available, his/her words may also considered.

I have a slipped disc as well as facet joint syndrome. I have a lot of pain in my lower back and down my leg.
I did have several chiropractic adjustments. The first one helped a lot. I was pain free for almost two days but the pain returned with a vengeance. None of other chiropractic adjustments helped and I have given up on them although I feel very comfortable recommending a chiropractor to others.
What helps me the most is going to the "Y". I do the hot tub, pool and machines. I almost always feel better afterwards.

Bansalji, one should go to a Chiropractor or Physiotherapist only on recommendation of a qualified orthopedics specialist. My wife used to suffer from a lower-back pain and a neighbor who was a physio offered to help. It was a disaster until we consulted a trauma specialist, who was a retired army orthopedic Doctor. He was able to diagnose the problem correctly and guide the physio. There has been no major problem since then.
No matter how good these practitioners are, they are not trained in diagnosis and I would not place myself in their hands blindly. It is my belief that without a proper diagnosis any spinal adjustments are simply what a tel-malish wallah can also provide. A painful shot in the dark.

I had been handling medical claims and based on my observation, my clients prefer chiropractor to physical therapy. They would usually complain with physical therapy saying that they had 6 PT sessions and nothing seems to happen. With chiropractors, one session puts a remarkable result on their treatment. Unfortunately so, chiropractors are not payable in insurance. Nevertheless, my clients dont mind and they still prefer to go to chiropractors even if they cant have their money back in reimbursements. I guess it is really worth it then.

I think medical field is like a tree. Basic stem is the general physician whom we should approach at first. Then, if need be, they would send us to various branches, which are as you know narrower than the stem so holistic treatment is not likely from that end. There are much smaller branches, these are the likes of physiotherapists and chiropractors. They should only be approached in sequence. That way the treatment would be proper and all aspects would be duly considered.
