Hey guys what's up hope everybody is reading and commenting on lot's of discussions I hope that one is mine. Anyway moving forward my question is; How can a person improve his or her memory??? I for one have good memory since I have to due to my job description but if there is another way that we can maybe improve or increase memory wouldn't it be great??? Like for example scenarios. Where did you put your key, Have you taken your medicine,Have you payed the bills and has the Dog already eaten. Things Like this can Be a drag to remember when you have forgotten it at that specific time. I hope there is a method to sharpen our memory tools and so that our daily needs for our memory usage will be a blast??? Any Suggestions guys???

Hi Apart from meditating you can improve your memory by playing chess if you can and also visit lumosity.com, a site totally dedicated to Brain related issues, you can participate in few games there to improve cognitive skills.

when I was working for the telephone exchange, computers just came in and I had to not only learn how to use the computer but how to take calls for faults on the phone, now I am not the cleverest of people, never really did well at school because I had and still have a very bad memory, but at this time I had to do a six week course on phone faults, someone told me to to have a drink of licorice root tea every morning, which I did, and I surprised myself by not only passing but I actually came top of the class, so I can't say it was the tea for sure but I had never came top of the class before...

thats a nice question coz im also having this problem since ive been into general Anesthesia twice and it lessen my memory to some point that i cant recall things nor words though after few minutes i can recall them all, i guess its also called memory gap, they said better to practice yourself by having a memory game like what we did when we are still a child and in school. theres also milk supplement and vitamins that will help the brain its like glutaphos, i used to take it when i was in college to support my brain memory and i guess its very effective though it might be effective to me but not to other people so it really depends.

i also do some concentration when i was still studying like not thinking anything but just the book im reading and memorizing important details, my key to memorize is to compare it with a certain words that i will never forget so that when i see it i can just recall the sounds like word and change it to the one i was previously read. sometimes if i forgot i just said its sounds like this and that then the words will hit my mind.

Is is said that exercise makes your think sharper and gives you retentive memory. Also taking Fish Oil supplements also helps in boosting your memory. Sometimes, we tend to forget because it has become mechanical for us in doing a thing. We do it without focusing on it. Hence, we tend to forget if we already have done it.

i agree! specially on taking fish oil, or to be specific, lots of DHA to boost your memory because DHA is great for brain development.

There are things we call: automatism and habits. If you have them there is no need to remember as long as you always do the same. Paying your bills is a habit (end or start of the month) and you can also write it down on a calendar. Keys, coats, shoes etc should always be put on the same spot. You can use a calandar or the alarm of your cellphone to remember you of important dates/things to do. So no need to break your brains about that. The memory is like a hard disk of your computer full = full. They say chewing gum will make more intelligent. So they advice schoolkids to do so. don't know if it's true. Being alert, learn to observe is being aware of what you see and about concentration. You can practise that. There are also plenty of games you can train your memory with but these are not ment to be like remembering where you put your key or phone or piece of soap.

Well i use some games that are specificly to improve memory. Cant really same the names because i change them all the time, but it helps alot, especially when it comes to concentration as well. I do have a very good memory but when i dont sleep well i start to lose a bit but i try to exercise my brain as much as i can to gain back everything i need :)

Depending on what you have to remember, try to simplify by assigning one word for each thing that you want to recall. In the scenarios you gave, do it like this way: key, medicine, bills, dog. Done, all you'd do now is remember the four words.

Hi there deodavid!! Well I can say that there is not certain way to improve your memory. The television shows medicine to improve memory but I never tried it even once so I couldn't say its effective.I can say that I have a sharp memory it actually helps me during my college days coz I always got perfect scores in written exams coz I can memorize all that my professors are teaching.I think one factor that helps me in having a good memory is memorization and listening to songs and its lyrics. When I was young I always make it a point to memorize the lyrics of a song that I like becoz I don't know the title I always guess it by just looking in the lyrics.During those times I am still young and still don't have any access in the internet to download songs and watch youtube I only have a radio.

I used to forget things like that. What I usually do is to stop for a moment, sit down and think about where I put that thing or if I really did that thing. When I was a kid oldies used to say eating peanuts can sharpen the memory but I don't know whether it's true. I used to eat peanuts sometimes but I think it's still the same I am still forgetful.

Stretch your mind and use it more. That is all.
