Allergies: suddenly swollen/infected face

Many people all over the world have to deal with allergies. Mostly through the years the kind of allergy you have is changing. Since the past years I can wake up suddenly with a awfull swollen face, very painfull. Later on it's redisch and infected (pus can come out too). Nobody can find the reason for that. Food diaries etc all tried. As I was in Africa it happend to me once. I went to the pharmacy (doctor over there as well) and the first thing they said was: are you taking meds against malaria. I did not because that was exactly the reason for my swollen face 1 year earlier. They did advice me to drink a lot of water. I did next day it was over. Someone told me it might be the insect spray (Bop) which I used in the room. Now back home I had the same (woke up like that yesterday). Different country, no Bop spray, not using meds, only temp about 30 degrees less and last night it started freezing again. Anyone suggestions to these kind of allergies? More peole dealing with it? It's very painfull and annoying because I never know what I look like if I wake up or in 30 min. and it's hard if you have things to do, take kids to school etc etc.

i would strongly suggest you go for detoxification. go for the green stuff.. veggies, fruits, clean water.. avoid synthetic and junk foods. if possible avoid fast food too since they're not exactly a good source for nutrition. i would also suggest you to have your liver checked up. sometimes when you're too used to taking synthetic meds, your liver suffers.

well, its never too late to be sure of the situation. i think a checkup would help confirm the situation, and would also be a good time for additional medical advice.

They have done Blood work, etc. to rule out any Health issues that might be causing this? Might just be a form of a bacterial infection that your face will go thru from time to time, but ruling out of other things should be evaluated as well. I know from time to time my face looks swollen or red, and it is usually when I am not feeling the best elsewhere, or got a Bad migraine. But it always goes away.

Thanks for you tip about the bacterial infection. Never thought about that, am afraid I have to tell the doctor about this idea. At this moment I am using a "mosquito sheet" on my matrass (usually take it with me if I sleep somewhere else works also against mites etc). I also drink more water now and even have a water bottle next to my bed. Past days I had a lot of pain, the burning face starts as soon as I get out of bed, I also had terrible pain in my face (after the burning seemed to be gone) I think these were the nerves. I hope it's also partly a reaction on not feeling well? I also started with vitamines, minerals, extra Vit. D etc. Since I have to take prednison a lack of this can be possible too. Am still struggling and hoping for better time (doing as less as possible). It will start freezing more next week so let's hope I survive that since each time the weather chances I feel my allergies and eczema pop up too. BTW I use sulpher soap to wash my skin, hope this will keep it germ free as said.

My daughter has this.....hers is caused by dust mites especially found in bedding. So when her's flairs up she has to make sure to wash the comforter...that's usually where they gather and it isn't washed as much as her sheets. On a scale of 1-4 her allergy to dust mites is a 4!

I have a water bed and and clean it all. If I stay somewhere else I have a special sheet with me, you can also use it against musquito's or to fix the musquito net.. it's true if I don't cover the matrass with it I feel itchy and terrible (hotels). But still this is not the reason, otherwise I would have it every day. Perhaps it is something in combination with hormons (out of balance) and ????

i know what you mean. mine is not a swollen face but stuffed nose and disoriented. dizzy, etc. and they dont know what causes it. sinus congestion. sometimes i think its because we are taking something for another problem thats not agreeing with us well. yet we have to take it in order to help a worse evil. like lately ive had to take prednesone for the breathing thing of getting out of the pneumonia. but i dont think it agrees with me well. yet not much i can do till im weaned away from it.

Hi Wakeup! Were you recommended to undergo allergy testing? The problem with your case is that you do not know your allergens hence you have no way of knowing which agent you are to avoid. As you have not taken the allergy testing yet, i strongly suggest that you have benadryl or virlix with you just in case you get anaphylactic shocks.

I have over 15 years of allergy tests done, I spent most of my life in hospitals and doctors gave up on me. I guess because I am way too old now to grew over it and the allergies are changing. Read that many allergies are changing your dna as well. I also had prednisone and many kind of anti histamine in the past 45 years (with all kind of side effects and the result now is that even a very high dose is not working anymore). I know exactly what not to eat or drink, what cremes etc I can use (only 3 times) or not. It's not that. There is something else that is triggering it and mostly after a night rest. The situation before is never the same. I only had it once after anti-malaria tablets very extremely nearly choked since even my tongue was swollen. Also during the pregnancy it was very bad, but still different as it is now.

hello there! It's difficult to tell because you don't know exactly about the cause, maybe you should try consulting with a dermatologist to give you the best possible care and advice. you find the cure if you can't find the cause have a nice day!

I am already for 45 years under consult of a dermatologist and they all gave up on me. nobody knows the reason and as I already wrote I tried everything. Personally I think I can't be the only one and this kind of allergy is never popping up in the same situation. :-(

Since you said you wake up with it I am wondering if it is something that happens to you during the night like perhaps a bug or spider bite in the middle of the night or perhaps something having to do with the bed linens. It is is good it goes away quickly. My guess is it is some kind of bug or spider bite that you are allergic too. I hope you are able to figure it out.

Allergies should be give attention, because if not, it could kill you, once it swells so well and you run out of breath. Thus. it is necessary to go to a doctor and be given the right medicine. It is also important that the allergen be identified, so you can avoid it next time around. I had a bout of allergy on an imported sunblock last year. My face didn't itch and redden but my neck did when i sweated. It took me and my husband a lot of analyzing as to what food did i eat , where did i go, what is the newest that i have taken in or applied into me. Thus, when we recalled, i am able to avoid it already. I throw the newly opened bottle of that imported sunblock. My allergy with the aid of anti-histamine was gone completely.

I can't exactly tell what' wrong with you. There are a lot causes of allergies, do have history of allergies before? did you eat something that makes your face swollen? or better yet, Ask your doctor about that.

Hi, WakeUpKitty. You are right. Allergies are common to many people nowadays. I have mine so does my daughter and her 2 little kids. There are many causes of allergies as well as different cures for them. Good I was able to search in the internet for more healthy solutions. Why not try.
