severe dandruff? i would strongly suggest using aloe vera and coconut oil for that. aloe vera to nourish the scalp and coconut oil to moisturize it.
also, as far as i know, dandruff can also be caused by hormonal imbalance. it would help to consult with doctors since you already describe it as "severe". i don't think anti-dandruff shampoos can help in this situation.

actually, i was thinking of consulting a doctor rather than a hair specialist due to the severity of the problem. but i guess it'd be best if you try aloe vera and coco oil first before going to the doc.

I think you are right a hair specialist may be of help due to the severe dandruff. But there is no harm in trying aloe vera with coconut oil. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I also think using too hot water in shower would give a lot of dandruff. When I was in the Middle East, the water in the shower is too hot too in the summer - that you actually have to prepare water for shower in the evening so when you take bath in the morning it will be warm. But because I was not able to do that for some time I used to have those irritating dandruff.

May be that could be also the reason for dandruff and hairfall. I will ask her to take hair bath in luke warm water. Thanks for your response.

Hi Bewitched, how old is your daughter?
For children and adults, using conditioner is one way to solve the problem.
For baby and toddler, best to use natural products, such as lemon, lime, coconut and aloe vera.
The ancient people use eggs and honey for washing hair.
Perhaps you can give it a try too.

My daughter is in her mid twenties. I think egg and honey will make a good home remedy for the dandruff problem. There will be no harm in giving it a try. Thanks for you kind response.

Hi Bewitched,
I am using lime to solve my dandruff problem, if you dont have lime you can also use lemon as substitutes. Simply slice the lemon or lime and scrub it on your scalp gently.Lemon or lime are known as best remedy to treat dandruff naturally. You will feel so fresh that you dont have to use shampoo to rinse them off, ( U might need conditioner if the lemon pulps stuck on your hair )
I live in Malaysia so its always hot here and i have to wash my hair frequently like once every 2 days. but since im practising lime/lemon treatment for my hair i only have to wash my hair twice a weak cos myhair felt so soft and clean. I will do this treatment once a week :)

I have heard of coconut oil with lemon juice massage for hair. But you have mentioned scrubing the hair with lemon directly. I think it will be a good try. Shall ask my daughter to do so. Thanks for your response.

Some shampoos in the market leads to hair fall so be cautious when you use different shampoos. One of the mylot friends had suggested warm coconut oil massage twice a week. You can try this and let me know the results. Thanks for your response.

my brother's daughter used to have that kind of problem too and he used the Hydrocortisone LactiCare and my niece was just 2months old when she used to have that dandruff problem. It was a great lotion and dandruff solution for babies/infant. Hope it helps Also used warm water for your baby for shower, you can check the water temperature using the tip of your elbow.

My daughter is a girl in twenties. So baby lotion may not work. But she can always keep a check on the temperature of the water. Thanks for sharing.

Johnsons baby products have a mild effect and so can help in dandruff. Like all other creams and shampoos it does not have chemicals. I shall ask my daughter to try out this. Thanks for sharing.
