What is world wide web and what are the components of world wide web?
We use world wide web in our day to day life. But ask yourself if you have thought what it is. If now, it is quite simple. World wide web abbreviated as www is a system of itnerlinked hypertext documents accessed via the internet. WIth a web browser, one can view web pages that my contain text, images, videos and other multimedia.
Do you define www in any other context? well how do you define world wide web? what do you think are the components? Lets discuss something important and interesting.

I just defined world wide web but did not state any components. I wanted others to discuss..
let me share what I know... and lets discuss with agreements and disagreements.. well this is how i think the discussions should be.
The web is composed of two important components, client and server. The web servers are the computers that stores the documents which users access using web browsers. The client is a software programs known as web browsers. The browsers retrieve the information from the server and displays in screen. The server can be anywhere in the world. Once published on the server, anyone in the world with internet connection and web browser can view the pages that are published.
Any other components? Any doubts or extra to share.. lets discuss

Well, you can think world wide web as a special document delivery service running over larger computer network, the internet.
This internet network is global structure made of millions of inner connected computers. The physical structure of the internet network is a collections of fiber optic cables, satellites, phone lines and other telecommunication mediums.

Yes you are right.. I think the same. World wide web now plays an important role in day to day life of everyone. The web is most powerful tool to communicate ideas and impart experiences ever created. It is better than any other traditional communication methods. It is now important for almost every field including business, arts and entertainment etc. It is capable of delivering rich multimedia contetns like audio, video and animations and it is available to anyone.

I believe that you've described the world wide web perfectly, so I don't think that there is any way that I can improve on the definition that you've given.
However, I do think it is important to note that even though there is a wealth of information that is available on the www, there is also a lot of information that people have posted on the internet that is not necessarily true information. For a person that is doing research, it is important to be able to discern between what is true and what is heresy.

WWW is basically a tool. For some it is to make friends, for others to earn money, and yet for others still is to find information. Yet for some it is their hobby/passion or even career or lifeline. It is what you want it to do. I just hope people use it for good than evil.
The components? The person and his computer with a ISP. Finer details? Look up boring text books.

I will agree that the internet can be described in basic terms. Certainly a portion of the internet is designated to support HTML format or specific protocol. However to define it only as a server/client relationship where “the client is a software programs known as web browsers” might be true but maybe not be totally accurate? Software like ftp programs are not browsers in the conventions sense yet still access information? Correct me if you think I am wrong for discussion purposes. We could say that any kind of communication is possible but because of conventions and agreements we use protocols (http) that others can understand but connecting one computer to another is not limited to them.
History shows that certain individuals put forth proposals to make the web possible and from the start a standard was developed for the web and evolved into what it is today and certainly will continue to evolve into the future.
It is possible though to change protocols like for example communicate over telephone lines using a modem and system of doing things without an ISP but it would be very limiting and better described as an intranet than an internet.
Plus the world wide web could be described as a place where funny little smiley faces appear.

Well, I totally agree with what you say. And one thing I did not really mean to say define as server and client relationship. I instead stated that two main components are server and client. Yea but with ftp I don't think every body can access the information. FTP is usually used for transferring files for local computers to the server where your files are to be hosted. It will require some login and password too.
The last line of your response is really interesting..thank you.
