One of the topics on the Jessica Soho’s show last Saturday was the films that were shot here in the Philippines. As we all probably know, the film Bourne Legacy, is currently having their shooting now here in the Philippines.
I was surprised to know that a part in the film Born in the Fourth of July, that part where Tom Cruise was maneuvering his wheelchair in a busy street was actually shot in Vigan. Yet it was made to appear in the film as if he was in Mexico.
Then, the film Platoon was also shot here in the Philippines, yet it was made to appear that it was in Vietnam.
Sad, that it would be that way, but I am glad also that this Bourne Legacy will really have it in their story line that some parts were really in the Philippines.

Hi SimplyD,
I am actually very proud that this big production has come to the Philippines to shoot in here. As what I heard, most scenes in the movie will gonna be shoot in here. And I am hoping that they will show the nice side of the Philippines and not those that could really turn other nations down. We have a lot of good places in here.
Though it creates hassle to us, like re-routing of jeepneys and others, still, this is really a great opportunity for us.
I hope they will not disappoint us.
Anyways, I am excited about the movie and I will definitely watch it...
have a nice day!

Actually, as to its shooting creating traffic, that was taken cared of by the authorities. Reroutings were said to be disseminated so there will be no traffic.
Besides, most of the shooting are done 2am until early dawn, where there are no traffic yet.
I guess, everybody is excited to watch it as a movie already.

Most Filipinos i think are so happy that the shooting was done here.
Many residents near the locations were even given some income for being extras.
How i wish i could be an extra too, so i could see myself in the film at least.

Glad to hear that the authorities are looking it's ways to solve this problem. I heard about the re-routing...but it really create a hassle to some people. Anyways, I haven't heard of any complaints in the news...so maybe our fellow Filipinos are really supporting this big project. And is really excited to see this movie to hit theaters. ^^

Hi ybong007,
Yes Matt Damon won't be in the film, as well as his character Jason Bourne. The new character here is Aaron Cross which will be played by Jeremy Renner. He's the lead now on this new installment.

And guys , have you seen those in the news on how they are going one with the filming? The way i see all those high tech gadgets they are using, it is indeed difficult to do a film.
Had it not been for Jessica Soho's show, which showed that part where Tom Cruise is in a busy market, i wouldn't have the idea that it was not Mexico as depicted but Vigan, as the location.

I think I've seen that show last Saturday. It was so surprising that there were a lot of movies before that was shot here. But it was sad to know that they came here but in the film they never actually said it was in our country. Well, at least this time I have heard that there were other countries willing to pay for a movie to be shot in their country but it was really Manila they chose. And this time I hope they won't say that it's in Indonesia or somewhere else.

So you have seen the show too? Have you seen that part shown where it was depicted that it was in Mexico , yet it was actually in Vigan. Sad, that it has to be that way.
But in Bourne Legacy, it will be indeed mentioned that they went to the Philippines to search for the cure of a certain illness.
I hope other films will also be shot here but declared as in Philippines.

I've seen some parts of the show but wasn't able to hear that the movie was actually depicting it was in another country when in fact it was filmed in the Philippines. What I remembered clearly was that of Claire Danes

I was not able to watch that, but, really? about the film in the fourth of july? The film was shot in vigan? and was made to appear as it was in mexico? woah, that's way to bad, they should have gave credit for vigan and Philippines. But, with bourne legacy, I think it's great that they shoot it here. I hope that it will turn out good.

It wasn't that the whole film of Fourth of July was filmed in Vigan. I have seen this film and it was shown that only that part where Tom Cruise , now crippled and on a wheelchair is in a public market in Mexico, where he supposedly live after the war.
Watch it ccarefully and you can truly say that it's shot in Vigan, because the old Spanish houses, Vigan is famous for, can be truly seen.

Yes, i love our country, Philippines so much! And it hurts me that some scenes on films are actually shot here yet it was depicted as other place.
But with Bourne Legacy, the story really tells that some of the place where the protagonists go are in the Philippines. Nice!

Well there's nothing we can do with that at least Bourne Legacy were shoot in the Philippines. We should be proud of that because out of many countries,Philippines was chosen. It's a great honor for us. Hoping that after this there's more Hollywood shooting to come.

Since there are a lot of films shot here, with Bourne Legacy being the current, for sure there will indeed be more films that will be shot here.
It's really a great honor that they shoot here. The Filipinos extras are so happy.

I didn't know that!To me,that is a very sad one.
Really, government should have done something about that.I think it's our right to be promoted since it is really taken here in our place.I don't know if this is possible, but there must be an article/law that indicates our right to promote our country or a certain place if used in a film or any other media coverage. And it should be clear at the start of any project to be shoot here in our place.
Just a thought

I think you have a point there my friend. The government should at least request for that. But i guess, they are sometimes after the payment (if there is) for having the Philippines as a location for a shooting.
