Youless, i seldom want to check the movie based on the rating. Because on some sites, they don't provide correct rating. Whenever i visit a site and want to watch the movie, i prefer to check at youtube for the trailer of that movie. If the trailer of that movie is great, then only i will watch that movie. Or else, i will prefer to spend my time on watching other movie. This coming holiday, i prefer to spend some time watching some new movies, since i have lots of free time to be spend at home. Happy Lunar new year to you and family...

Youless, in fact i am also a Chinese. A Malaysian Chinese, so used to know when to celebrate this special occasion with my family and friends.
Ct, i must agreed sometimes we can't watch a movie based mainly on the trailer. We will need to checkout the review for some movies...

Most of the time the trailer did not show the exact of it.. I often feel cheated when I watched the trailer and thought it's a best movie while it's not at all. One of it is Green Lantern. It's one of the worst movie I have ever seen but the trailer seem good~ I feel so regret for not checking the review before I watched in on the cinema~(

Agree with you! Every time I decide to watch movie on theater I will check the rate first on IMDB or rotten tomatoes if I am not mistaken. SOmetimes I checked the reviews and comments from those who have watched it. Even if some might say that it is not necessary to check the reviews as it will be some spoilers, I don't care as I don't want to waste money for a bad movie. So far if I don't checked them on those sites and watch the movie first then look what's on IMDB or rotten tomatoes I would say hundred percent correct and likely same with my reviews for that movie.(^^)

IMDB is a great site to use not only for ratings but also for information about who starred in a movie... where it was shot... how much it cost to shoot it.... I use the site more for the information purposes than for the ratings as almost every film (the exceptions I can think of are independent [indi] films and some foreign films).
I don't know if I would ever consider a subscription when there is so much information already there and what is not there is on Wikipedia.
Thanks
Zelo

Not really. I think they go by popularity of the movie. Most of mine are older vintage movies and are past the rating stage. I never really noticed a rating on any of them. Some people go by ratings and some by their own feelings on actors, story line, etc.

I don't look for a rating on there. I look for storyline and such.

I do not give it much attention. Although sometimes it's a bit important to me, for example if a movie get less grade 4 i probably will not see this movie, Else if some one i trust told me it is a great movie that i must see...
Sometimes IMDB could be disappoint There are films that receive a high score and they not so good..

hi youless! i think we don't have that kind of rating here for our local movies, however there is another kind of rating that is given here for our local films. this rating just categorized what kind of film and which age group can watch it such as if it needs parental guidance or whatever. hehe..not really much an expert on this because i really do not mind the ratings, i usually see the trailer and decide for myself if its worth watching or not. hehe...
have a nice day dear friend!
