Coloring your nails

One of the beauty habits that I have picked up from my mother is the art of applying nail polish. I have never gotten the hang of applying makeup but since my early twenties I have been applying nail polish on my nails whenever I can. I don't have it professionally done here because most beauticians here in my country would murder my nails by cutting through the cuticle until it bleeds. I hate that and there was one time I stormed after the salon after a long discussion with the beautician on what I wanted. He/she (because the person is gay) insisted that I would need to get cuts and wounds when he did my nails because it was "normal". I insisted that I didn't want that, only to push it and then apply the polish. So, long story short I never had my nails done and have never had it done by anyone else besides myself.
I pity the women that I see wearing slippers with bandages around their toes. There was one time where I thought I was in Dejavu country because it seemed all the women I came across with on that mall had the same kind of wound. I could only surmise that they probably went to the same salon and had been victimized by the beauticians there.
How about you Mylot ladies? Do you get your nails professionally done or do you just do it yourselves?

I just cut and clean them only. I don't apply any nail polish and never ever use that polish thing. I won't waste my time have someone to do it for me plus I need to let them dry and so on. It take much tie for me that is why I am not using it. Because of that I don't even know how to do apply it~(^^)

There are just some brands that dry out faster than others. so far, the one that I am using right now is a kind of quick dry nail polish and they're dry in less than ten minutes. It's a skill to be able to apply polish on your own. Thank you for your response.

It's just a few years ago since I started going to salon to have my nails done. I don't really trust those manicurist or pedicurist because I am just afraid that I might end up having a wound on my toes (usually the big toes).
I have experienced going in there when I was about to travel and I am just so tired of doing it...so I went in there and was satisfied. From then on, I do in there...but not that often.
As much as possible, I am responsible with my own nails in cleaning it up...and it's just so rare that I do to salon. Plus, I can save a lot of money if I will do it on my own...^^
Have a nice day!

That's one of the painful parts of this process, you pay them to murder your toes. In a way when you do your own nails you are sure of the kind of nail polish that you will use. Instead of paying the salon to murder my toes, I just buy a shade of polish that catches my fancy. Thank you for your response.

I can imagine how painful it must be if she could not even put on the sheets over her feet. I don't know why some salon people murder the toes of other people. I guess maybe because they're doing it on someone else they don't feel the pain and they just go on. Thank you for your response.

Hello Anne, Unfortunately am a guy and never have done it but my mom does it by herself and she never lets others do it except to some of her trusted friends. well, they want to start business and earn money but it seemed they have forgotten the quality of that service involved.

Hello LK. Are you aware that there are some guys who have their nails pedicured at salons? I guess that is the answer as to why these people murder the toenails of other people, it's because they are in a rush to get things done so that they can get new customers. But still they should consider the pain. Thank you for your response.

Then I would suggest that you don't have your pedicure done by someone else. Thanks for your response!

Ever since i was assigned as a teller in my single days, up to now that i am older, i don't have my nails manicured. That's because i am used to having it short because in my teller days, it';s hard to count money when you have long nails.
But as to my toe nails, i always have them pedicured. I do it myself, because i too have a bad experience of having my big toe murdered by the parlor lady. It was swollen for almost a week and after that i never ever have it done in the parlor.

Ouch, that must've hurt. I too have short nails since I have worked in a fast food restaurant for eight years. But this has not stopped me from applying nail polish and the great thing about today's trends is that even if you have short nails, you can still apply polish. Thank you for your response!

I ususually have my daughter do my toe nails and finger nails when she has time. One it way for us to talk and catch up on things in her life and she does it really well.
I usually do not do my nails. I was raised not to be able to wear it because it made my mom sick from the fumes etc.. Make up on the hand I do wear. It is pretty cool you learn this from your mother.
Thanks Unique16

I love spending time to polish my nails. I feel I don't do it every day but my mum really hates the smell of the nail-polisher so she is certain I shouldn't do this "every day". On one hand I don't have enough money to a professional and on the other I just have my own ideas I know I will be able to put on my nails so I take the colours and start.

I apply nail polish myself. I've only been do a nail salon once. I didn't have any problems but was just too much for a semi-frugal person like myself
It's much cheaper for me to do my own nails. And I don't really need false nails because my nails can grow long enough. The only thing I like about the nail salon is the designs they do.

Oh I do love coloring my nails as well. i do actually was studying about cosmetology and coloring nails is one of our subjects. I really find it very tidy and nice to look at especially colors will really fit on your skin color. I find girls/women beautiful if they do color their nails. And as a beautician i love to put and clean nails to some other people than doing it my own. It's kinda hard to do it yourself sometimes, so once every week I do visit my friend who does manicure and pedicure.
