We all know that people make their choices and their reputation is built primarily on choices. So does the fact that one chose a low-end university also mean that you have low chances in landing a job? I mean, honestly, I had an argument about this with my friend wherein he says that university reputations are also a big factor into landing a job. I kept telling him that one can land a good, high-end job if one works hard. But yeah, it kinda got me thinking that the fact that he was able to cite a couple of examples where university reputation did become a big deal in landing a job. A friend of his landed a job due to the fact that he went to a known university in the Philippines. Is reputation really that much of a factor in landing a job? I'm currently taking up Architecture in a not-so-famous university and this argument really got me taking.

It also depends no the kind of reputation a university has. For example, I am going to school to be a teacher. I had to choose between two universities. One is much larger, has a better reputation, requires a higher GPA for transfer from a junior college and is generally more well-known. The other university is smaller, but it is known across our state for its education program. I have heard many times that schools prefer to high teachers with degrees from the smaller university because their reputation for turning out very good teachers is widely known. That is why it's always good to consider a universities reputation, but don't allow it to be your only reason for attending. The reputation of a university cannot always be counted on for employment.

Yes, here in the Philippines, some companies look into the universities where you graduated from. Mostly, they would choose those graduates of a reputable university and of course your grades . If you are in the province, they also like to employ graduates that graduated with high grades in a reputable university. Not that it's reputed to be expensive, but reputed for having students who really gets a high passing grades in board exams . But when they can't find one from the applicants, that's the time that they will look from those highest passers in the company's exam for applicants.

Unfortunately, reputations of universities do help graduates in getting into the doors of companies. When all things are equal (kind of education, knowledge of graduate and willingness to work hard, etc.), it is all but the place where he or she graduated from that makes the difference. It's unfair, but that's just the reality.

Absolutely ,Reputation of Universities is major point in job selection process.when good companies are recruiting for various post then top companies only goes to the top most reputated college.they does not go to the college having low reputation. because if a company is good then why it go to the other than top colleges.they want talented and intelligent employees and they found them on top rated colleges. but if have the real talent then no one can stops you. then the things are changed. then you don't need good reputation of college.all that you need is yours owns knowledge and talent.but this is very rare that any talented person is studying in a college who has low reputation. but there is nothing to lose hope.if you are coming from low repuatated college.there is 90% of possibility that you are eligible for top companies at a first.but you can start your carrier from other companies, and one day if have talent then you will be working in top company of your choice.
