How Many Times Have You Done This?

Instead of getting your pass card out and plonking it on the scanner on the bus..you use your debit card instead? Come on, you know who you are! Mum does this all the time but she has an excuse.."It's me eyes..I need my cataract done."

hi Janey I did the opposite in Rite aide awhile back. I grabbed what looked like the rite aide discount card and handed it to the clerk. He had an odd look on his face,"Maam this is an expired bus pass." we both laughed as I dug out the right card and tossed the bus pass.I too have cataract on my left eye. lol lol so I can use that as an excuse. loll

Awww! Have you been given a date for the removal of the cataract or do you have to wait for it to grow a bit more, like my Mum?

Not a problem and the pass and my debit card are in different wallets Now trying to use my railcard on the bus, thats a different matter... Though I can actually use my bus pass on the railway as well as long as the journey is within Greater Manchester. If I'm travelling back home on the train, I only need to book a ticket as far as the GM boundary as I can travel free on my GM pass from there on. Its a pretty good deal.

Yes, it's great when you can get good deals like that.

I have many store cards and I must be honest I tend to go by the colour so I am always grabbing the wrong one and plonking it on the counter of the wrong store, embarrassing.....

Oh well, at least now you know you're not the only one who does it.

For some reason this incident of yours reminds me of that scene in Nottinghill where Hugh Grant produces a blockbuster card when he was asked for a press ID to get into Julia Robert's press conference. Come to think of it, I think he also had issues with his eyes then (diving goggles while watching a movie).

I don't think I've ever watched Notting Hill all the way through (if I did it was ages ago) and in actual fact it's on one of the ITV channels tonight..but I shall give it a miss this time. One of my favourite Hugh Grant films is "Love, Actually."

I don't have so many cards in my purse so I never had such experience before. I will always make sure I hold the right card so this will never happen as I don't want others behind me to wait for me to take out the pass. Better to find them early in the purse.(^^)

I do that with money (as I don't have a pass) as I can't be doing with scratting around in my purse, especially when I know how much the fare is in advance.

There were lot of times here we need to wait for some guy to find his coins an money from the purse. I just hope if they get ready with it before they bus come.

Stange to hear ,use a debit card for paying for riding in a bus. Here there is a box in the front of the bus.everyone put 1 yuan(RMB)coin in the box when they get on the bus ,if they will ,they can stay seated from starting station to the terminal. However old people of seventy and above can get on for nothing by old people card.

The card wouldn't actually work. I'm on about getting them mixed up, realising the mistake, then rectifying it when the driver tells them off.

I have never done that on the bus but I have tried to pay for things with my library card and am always using my house key in my office door and vice versa. The two keys look entirely different so I don't have any excuse. After today neither will Mum by the sound of things!

I don't take the bus so I'm not guilty of this one, but i often try and use my internet banking card in the cash point machine and wonder why it wont give me any money ....

I'll admit it right away! I don't have a bus card but I do have a magnetic card for my work. Very often when I enter the building I open my handbag and I get the keys for my home. How do you like this?

We have only 1 card for the bus and it will charge an amount (big one) from it if you take the bus or train. Only if you check out it will charge/count the real price you have to pay. So no way you can use an other card to scan, it won't work and you have to do it in front of the driver. So the only bad luck you can have is if your card is not working when you leave the bus/train or you forget to check out. The only way to get your money back is to put a claim by the internet. If you are lucky you get your money back within 2 weeks.

Yes, Mum had to pay full fare once (usually it's free) because she couldn't find her pass..well, not at the time anyway. It turned up later on! In her pocket!
