Kicking the diet soda, hopefully for good

For most of my life, I have been a voracious and habitual soda drinker. The consumption steadily increased during my adulthood and I've tried to quit off and on for a number of years. Often I've felt similar to smokers (though I don't smoke, and there's almost no social stigma for soda drinking) because I crave caffeine via soda so badly..
And last week, almost out of the blue, I got sick of it. Or more accurately, just sick. I actually got the shakes and stomachaches because I had been downing Pepsi Max almost nonstop for several weeks (or longer? not sure) and I was sick from ODing on caffeine, yet shaking because my body craved MORE. So nasty!
I am so proud I have been able to REALLY stop for a week, and only hope it continues...I guess the difference was that I wasn't trying so hard this time.

that is very good, have you replaced it with anything, I have tried to cut back as well but I am not that good at just plain water so I have bought a couple of corials to just add a little taste to the water...I hope you can overcome your need for soda drinks, you are doing well.

so far I have mostly replaced it with water and tea, which is out of character because a large appeal of soda (to me) is the fizzy bubbles. I have left Sprite Zero as an option if I'm out and about, but only as a treat, and I'm craving the bubbles less and less. I hope you're able to cut back too!
