Is there such a thing as taking too much supplements?

I'm a 32 year old woman who is fairly healthy and I'm regularly taking multivitamins with iron add to that, B complex, 1000mg of Vit. C, Vit. E, Fish Oil, Calcium and Silimarin caps. Would that be too much? How much supplements do you take daily?

Oh I'm sure there is going to be some kind of limit to the amount of supplements that you should take. Of course, whether or not any supplements are at all are too much...many people will have varying opinions about that. Just like there are a lot of times where certain supplements might not rather combine all that well and will have side effects. I'm sure doctors may know and I stress the word "may" because doctors sometimes don't always know what they are doing. As for me, I take none. Notta. Zip. Zilch. I tend to be against taking anything into my body, to not to destabilize my bodies natural abilities. I don't like to be dependent on anything, even supplements. Of course, people will argue against this, but I'll do what I want to do and other people will do what they want to do. So many supplements on the market however and I would not be surprised if it comes out eventually that many of them are not as good as we once thought. Then again who knows.

Well, I take Vit C and E to boost immunity and I take a daily dose of Iron because I get the monthly visits where I lose quite a bit of blood. But, other than that, i suppose I take all the other supplements because I think I don't get the complete nutrition from regular meals.

There are certain vitamin supplements that can have bad effects if taken too much. I'm not however sure what these are. I was told that that zinc and iron are. Others however do have some health benefits if taken more than the normal dosage such as Vitamin C. But I think it's best that you ask a doctor on which vitamin supplement may or may not be taken in excess amounts.

I know that Calcium, when taken in excess, is bad because sometimes it builds up in the arteries. But I don't think a daily dose is bad though. Maybe I'll bring this up with my doctor on my next visit =) thanks!

Personallu I don't think it hurts to take especially if you are like me and don't eat proper healthy meals, they can't be as bad as the doctors percribed tablets that some people are taking, A friend of mine take over 17 doctors perscribed tablets a day, I am not sure that can be good for our bodies so I wouldn't be worried too much about vitamins...

I try to eat healthier and stay clear of junk food, but it's just too hard, lol. That's what I was thinking, I mean, if vitamins are good for us, wouldn't taking a lot be even better?

I don't take much of all these. But sometimes I do take Vitamin C - though not on a regular basis.
