New and need some pointers in the right direction! Help

Alright guys and gals I am completely new here and it seems to me that maybe I just didn't understand the information the website has up or maybe I have it right. But I would love some clarification. My question is do you get points/earnings/money from participating in different discussions and leaving comments or
starting different discussions or both? I would really like to know because I have a lot of free time on my hands and I plan on being on the site quite a bit.
And this is something thats productive and fun at the same time where I feel that I can actually make a little extra cash.

Thank you. I didn't mean it as in for what somebody else writes lol but I wasn't sure so hopefully this will help. Going to check it out now!

Thanks I searched all over for something for FAQs or anything and I couldn't seem to find it. Maybe I just overlooked it I tend to do that a lot!
