Each time you want to atart a discussion or you want to respond, you will have to tag your discussion, but one thing i dont understand is how many people actually focus on the tag, or consider it beofre reading or commenting on a particular discussion, knowing fully well that some people just write anything there...so the question is how many people actually consider the tag beofre opening and commenting a discussion

Good day bibispark2,
I guess you know what the tagging is all about by now as you have received a lot of responses already telling you, so I am not going to explain it again but I wanted to say this....I always tag everything I post. I tag all discussions I start and all responses I post and I even tag all the comments I post.
I almost always check to see if my tags were used after my posting goes through and most of the time it isn't. Or it is already there but I don't want to check before I respond so I just do it anyways. I am thinking that the more we do on mylot, including tagging, it helps our earnings and our ratings.
I have noticed that a lot of the newbies here don't tag their discussions because they don't realize the importance in it and since you are a newbie it is good that you ask so you can start to use it too. Good luck and welcome to mylot.
Cheers and happy mylotting my friend ,
chris

the tag simply helps people when they're searching for particular discussions related to the tags.
but if you're asking how many are actually "tagging" discussions, well, that'll be one heck of a homework. i'd seriously doubt we'd get an exact number but i'll guess at around 50%.

I think it depends, only sometimes do I feel it is necessary to use tags when responding. However, I do use it more often when starting new discussions because when it comes to searching the tags may be able to help to limit the search to certain topics. Good question?

I do tag the majority of my discussions but I would suspect that a lot of people do not. It is not something we must do, merely an aid to find the discussion again, later.

Dear friend, based on my personal knowledges Mylot, put the tag is not required. However, in all respects is better than you do. According to it, you can categorize discussions and comments according to certain criteria.
Now maybe you do not put tags, when a discussion comments of others, but at least one or two tags when you write the discussion yourself.
This is my advice.

I will bring myLot's explanation from the FAQ here..
What is the purpose of tagging a discussion or myLot message?
Tagging allows for a way to categorize and search discussions and messages in myLot for easy navigation.

Simply said, tagging will helps you to find a discussion. Say, you had already gave a response and you want to check the discussion back, you can easily search it via myLot search with words that you use when you're tagging it.
It surely is useful, but I doubt lots people use it..

First off you don't have to tags any discussions you do or respond to. I don't tag mine other people that do my discussions tag mine and others. Tags do help with searching for certain discussions you might be interesting and everyone will tag it differently depending on there point of view of the discussion.
