i share my house with a wonderful hubby and two lovely teenaged daughters and often hear this phrase, not coming out of my mouth as you may assume, but out of my daughter's mouth, especially my older one towards ME!
yes, i admit that i like listening to a variety of music from our very own Canadian band The Guess Who (songs from before i got to appreciate their music) and old songs that have been stuck in my head as of late like "Carry On My Wayward Son' by Kansas and i mean, if you are going to listen to good music, it HAS to be loud, right?
As my moods change, so does my choice in music. one day i will be a rocker, the next day listening to Etta James and Glenn Miller, loud as well.
My taste is music is all over the board from big band, jazz, classical to hard rock oldies to todays stuff and hubby does not share my taste in music much at all.
are you like me? does anyone appreciate your taste in music? do you play it loud?

Well, it depends on what kind of music i am listening to actually. If i am in our bedroom, and hearing danceable tunes because i am also dancing, then it definitely should be in a loud volume . That way , i feel so full of energy doing my dancing.
But for mellow ones, i definitely would like it in a toned down manner.

I like all kinds of music, too, but I don't want it too loud (usually).

I live by myself! Woo Hoo! I can listen to music as loud as I want to...I like country...and at Christmas my daughter and her family were home...she detests counrty music....but I played it anyway. I didn't tell her to turn her's down when she was in the shower...she like more rock! I do listen to it loud especially in the car..

I like a lot of different music but in my house no one ever has music on. I love it and would have it on on the weekends when im cleaning and just hanging around the house maybe baking and doing some stuff. My parents dont seem to ever havem music on which is weird becaue i remember them saying there parents always had on music when they were growing up but even when i get in my moms car there is no music on she lieks everything ot be quiet but she does like to open up the windows and listen to the birds but i like that to but i still need my music so when im in my car its pretty loud and i s ing along and have that time to myself ot enjoy it.

The old me living at my parents house would love that. Loud music whenever I wanted. Well, now we are in an apartment where the walls are thin . . . well, we don't share any walls with anyone in this particular place, but there are folks with a little baby downstairs, so I don't like to make too much noise for their sake. Plus I have a little one who naps during the day, so I don't like to play music too loud then either or else he'll wake up!
Otherwise, yah, I'm all over the place when it comes to music taste. I used to figure skate, so I (still) look for all kinds of music that I can skate to - particularly danceable ones (even if it's big band, jazz, classic, whatever). I'm always choreographing in my head - ha ha!!
That's so funny your daughter tells you to turn it down - we're not there yet with my kids. My daughter will just tell me she wants to listen to something else - ha ha!

I do have to watch especially later at night if I am listening to something and want to listen to it louder. I work Swing and everyone else in the house works days so I am up late while they are sleeping. But I go thru my moods where I am listening to something and want to turn it up and sing with it. Try to make sure that these are the times that I am the only one in the house just in case it would bother anyone.
But Lucky for me, my husband and I do share a lot of the same type of Music that we enjoy listening too so that is a definate plus.

Good morning, cher...how's the weather on the East Coast! "ol man winter" has finally reared his ugly head, here on the West Coast...dumps of snow, and cold, like I haven't seen in a long time!
I can answer YES...to most all your questions! Living alone...rurally...on 2 7/8 acres if property...when the mood hits..and the tunes are right, UP goes the volume...and my choice is ALL over the map! Not too much Opera..but my favourite movie in the world is the "Glenn Miller" Story...and it has all his hit's in it! I am a big Country fan..Old Rock..Pop! Donny McDougall (his wife; Bonnie, son's Collin and Leighton) lived on this Island for quite some time) he's from the Guess Who..and another member, can't think of his name (bearded one) lives on Saltspring (the next Island to me)!
Thank goodness...my son (when he comes home)shares my full taste in Country..and he loves the volume UP!

That is a breath of fresh air to hear that your children tell you to turn the music down. Usually it's the parents raising the roof because the kids are blaring their stuff. I remember my son was the worst for the loudest music in the house. I never really made a big deal out of it though. I like all kinds of music too. There have been times when my daughter has asked me to turn it down a notch when I have been playing it on my computer. She said she couldn't hear the TV. I guess that is considered a little loud.

I tend to really play a lot of the music that I do kind of loud but I do play it loud within some kind of reason. There are a lot of times where you really do not want that music to rather blare all that loud, because there are going to be people who are rather going to try to sleep. However, during the day, when no one is doing anything, then time to crank it up.
Within reason of course, within reason. Granted there are just many times where I am going to get right into the groove and things tend to get insane. That is just really the enjoyment factor that I have with music. I tend to get into it and get lost in all of the great tunes that are played over and over again. It just makes me smile.

I like listening to different types of music as long as I like its melody and lyrics. Whether it's rock, rap, RnB, mellow... and yes I also play it loud! I feel the music when it's loud. But well someone in the house might not appreciate it. So I tend to just listen to music sometimes when I'm on my lappy and put on the headset to my ears and play it loud. So glad I've got my new headphone today! Not everyone actually appreciates my taste in music, my brother normally listens to new songs - since he's 7 years younger than me he doesn't like listening to very old songs. So whenever he's here he plays his songs too loud! Since I can like whatever songs, I also enjoyed listening to what he plays.

Megadeth and a variety of music ranging from classical to game remixes. I love music and good listening melodies but I don't have that problem. My problem is a bit different, as I wear earphones I can't hear anyone else around me well and nobody seems to understand that. They'll just still try to talk to me at the back of my head while I listen to music. What's up with that?
In my family though, the one who likes to play it loud is my big sister who's kids don't really mind... but one of her favorite music types is rap (SUPAMAN!) which conflicts with me, and used to be bothered by it until I got headphones... hm, maybe that's where it started. XD

My taste in music is very large, from Eric Clapton to Eminem, Cher to Cradle of Filth, Devo to Dimmu Borgir, Phil Collins to Pantera, and many many more. I love all genres of music.

I am sort of like you. I am 44 years old and I like to listen to 70s music on occasion. There is nothing like the beat and guitar of 70s music. Very few times has anyone told me to turn it down though.

Just today I went to pick up my friend because I was giving her a ride so that she could visit her brother for a little bit and I was absolutely jamming when she was walking up to the car. Luckily, she and I do share the same taste in music, but there are a lot of times that she does turn down my radio because her boyfriend is often with us and riding in the back seat and having the music up loud means that Eric is not able to participate in our discussions.

My taste in music varies too. But there are some tunes which I like that nobody in our house really appreciate.
A couple of weekends ago, I was surfing the net, and was on youtube picking out spanish guitar music (I like them). Of course I was also playing them loud. After a while I realized I was the only one in the whole kitchen area (or desktop is in the kitchen), as everybody went upstairs. They couldn't stand the music, and how loud it was.
