What makes a friend your best friend?

It's just about how we feel while talking and hanging out. With some people I feel not relaxed, it's hard to make any joke, or do fun stuff. With best friends it comes naturally. I guess for girls it means sometihng a bit different because they need more support and trust, which we don't show and it's still good.

I don't have best friends anymore, I prefer to have a few close friends, but a best friend is one you feel you can trust 100% but through experience I have found sometimes we kid ourselves so these days I just have a few close friends but not too close

I call my best friend my best friend because i usually talk to her about everything and even stuff i dont tell my parents, cousins or anyone else. It might be stuff that is bothering me and i can tell her and talk to her about it and she will help me out when i need her the most. I can call her my best friend because she is someone i talk to everyday and can trust about talking to and i can tell her my problems and she will listen to me about it all. I do have a boyfriend but there are times that things are bothering me about our relationship and i can talk to my best friend about it rather then my boyfriend because sometimes i feel if i tell my boyfriend he might get mad and start an argument with me.

I look for someone I have a lot in common with. I agree that it's someone that I feel comfortable around. Someone that I can be myself with and not have to be something I'm not. I saw a thing on Facebook one time that said: A good friend will bail you out of jail but a BEST friend will be right there beside you. LOL

My closest friend actually lives 200 miles from me. We share so many common interests that we are more like sisters...we can even complete each others thoughts....we do have our moments when we don't always agree...but most of the time we do. Even though we live far apart I can go to her house and see something she has bought and I have the same thing...without even knowing that each other bought it!

A friend is someone who loves you and does anything to make you happy. What I mean is the following. Someone who is very stressed may have a low tolorence for anything that might happen in his day, but if he has the patience to talk to someone, a person, to have a nice conversation and share experiences and not let the stress or anything emotional make him do something to hurt this person, than this person is a friend and if he can always look past his problems to be able to give this person a nice experience than that is my conception of a best friend.

I agree with sterybiusz. It's mainly about how comfortablee you are with that person, in all situations, not just a handful. This is just my own opinion on what I consider to be 'best friend worthy' so it can't be taken too literally. I have always considered a best friend to be someone you're also insanely in tune with, quite as you would be with your soul mate.

in my opinion a best friend is the best person you can ran into. Whom you can trust of your very kept secret because you trust her / him very much. Some one you can get along any where you go and never leaves you alone no matter what happen. Someone whom you truly know for a very long time. A close friend is some how close to best friend. He or she maybe with you most of the time but not like a best friend who is with you all the time. A friend is where everything starts. Its like getting to know stage and where you will know each other.
