In most areas in the different parts of the world, cultivation of food items is on the decline. We are definitely in peril to face the grim consequences of this gesture. The prices of essential commodities are soaring up. Many of the water resources have been dried up paving the way for so called fast paced development. Rivers, lakes and many of the watersheds are fast turning dry. Trees in forests are felled indiscriminately. Mountainous regions are leveled up in an effort to create vast expanse of open land. The agricultural fields are churned into grounds for building high rise apartments. Have anyone thought about the aftermath of these gruesome acts ?After all who on earth could lofty mountains tomorrow? The greed of man for more and more possessions would ultimately bring about his doom. The onset of gigantic natural disasters is not quite far......

The word doom sounds as if a deity will cause the human race to extinguish. But it is not so. Nevertheless, we are doing all we can to do it by our own means. I do not blame it on the sun or on earthquakes. More damage is done, as you say, by human greed.

It is man's greed for comforts unlimited which is going to usher in a doom. No deity could in fact be blamed for this inevitable disaster created (rather owned) by we, the human species !!!!!!

True! In my country, only these last years, many disasters have been approved by the very rich. Of course, as usual, most of the people donĀ“t have a voice to stop it even though we supposedly live in a democracy.

While I disagree that doomsday is coming soon, we do need to conserve more our natural resources and push less for expanding. We have no more need to expand outwards, we need to build inwards, fortify what we have now and work on what resources we ALREADY have. This is what Japan did. It worked for them, I think if we learned to recycle our current buildings, own materials, and reprocess and whatnot, we'd have a better standing in economy as well.
Our current industry practices are both economically and environmentally unfriendly, using up and throwing away. We should really refine our methods, it IS causing an impact, even if it isn't doomsday level yet. We have the technology, we should use it.

Doomsday / ... it really is approaching quite fast. With human greed and developments with no qualms of conscience the Doomsday is not far away.

I have reservations on the usage of the word Doomsday. People seem to actually hope for it. But I do see the importance in taking care of things, I do love nature. :)

hi sukumar794! i agree with you my friend! mankind have been so greedy and now, we are experiencing so many calamities, not just around us but all over the world. friends i knew from other countries have been complaining of erratic climate change. my father always tell us that when he was young, life is so good and so peaceful. he and his sisters usually go to the field to play and when they come home, they usually brought a lot of crops and fishes..for free. unlike now, everything has a price. oh i hope it is not too late..i hope that the next generation can still find fishes in the sea and rivers, or butterflies in the garden. oh, when was the last time i have seen a firefly? i remember when i was very young, there are a lot of fireflies in our garden. i missed those fireflies...i pray that all of us will do our share in saving our environment even in our own small way.
take care and blessings to you!

With extreme weather conditions around the world any cultivation of food items has become costly at best. it is a sign of the times. Natural disasters seem to becoming normal almost. It isn't going to stop any time soon. We do get some items from other countries.

I really think that the reason that there have been so many natural disasters in the last several years is because of the "progress" that humans have been making in the last few decades. It isn't good to change the natural lay of the land in favor of the comfort of people.
With that said, I think that the impact that we are making right now is ultimately going to make life a lot more difficult for the generations that are going to come after us.

NATURE .. in truth...it blesses those who adore and respect it. On the other hand those who try their hands at destroying its peace and tranquility, human destiny is definitely at stake....

Hi sukumar, I agree with you that we are in a precarious situation and we need to take steps to reverse the situation. It is amazing that we as humans have managed to advance so far technologically, and yet have not been able to see that we are destroying the very environment that allowed us to live on the earth in the first place. No doubt much of it is greed coupled with shortsightedness on the part of world leaders. Blessings.
